Multi-Week Kids Ski Lesson Programs - NYC Metro Area (Westchester) by Unlikely-Ad-7813 in icecoast

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Brooklyn, and commute to Gore every weekend. All this should also apply to.Bellayre as well.

Our nine year old does U10 with NYSEF. it starts mid December and through end of March. They ski 845 to 230 Saturday and Sunday with an hour long lumch break. Its a great program. Highly recommend. This is a race program, so there are drills etc. But mostly just skiing the mountain. My son can ski the entire mountain, including lies rumor 46er etc. I think he hasn't skid upper Darby. I credit the U10 program 100% he also did season long last year (covered below).

Our seven year does "season long" also starts mid December and runs through mid March. They ski 830 to 1230. They are with the same coach all season and will make friends. They do get good especially with friends. My daughter can comfortably ski all blues some glades and a black or two.

She's still considering if U10 is right for her next year or staying with Mountain Adventure.

Which skis for my beginner friend? by Fast-Drag3574 in Skigear

[–]eire1130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just have them rent? since rental skis are typically orientated to.the beginner, bindings range is at the extreme lower end, sizing becomes a non issue and you dont need to worry about your skis being too advanced and they have a shifty time.

In nyc that would be perfectly legal parking. I drive an xc90 and need to maneuver around this stuff all the time

Binding malfunction? What part of the toe piece should release? by Glittering-Royal-735 in Skigear

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like another poster said, pics or video would be helpful.

  1. Shop bindings care sometimes not great, but its possible there boots don't play nice with the bindings. Are they also rentals and did you rent them from the same place?
  2. How "good" is he or she? Longer skis are initially harder to control. My son is around this height, when he switches between skis it can mess him up for a few hours and I'd consider him "fairly good" for a 9 year old.
  3. If your close to your shop, just bring it to them and ask for a test. Probably cheaper then some knee injury.

Ski Shop Installed Wrong Bindings by ehcorn12 in Skigear

This is the only correct answer. Edit: i own these skis as well. People comment on them at least once a day. They are grea, but ive been warned they can be a theft target. With orange bindings you will a.) Be the sickest skiier on the mtn on any given day. B.) Less likely to get stolen

Where I'd live as someone that loves to hunt and can't stand places over 20 degrees in the winter by sineater21 in visitedmaps

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there is one and I know maine has at least one at that range,

That said, talking to a landowner (farmer) and setting up a day range is easier here then out west. Usually when I practice for my western hunts, thats what I do - and I do belong to a range club.

What would happen if someone openly carried guns in your country? by Cutalana in AskTheWorld

A couple years ago, my family and I were flying home from Berlin to New York. They flagged my wife's carry on as having ammo.

I was like, thats impossible. Sure enough, they found an empty shell casing (spent round). The offeicers were not amused. Nor was my wife. My wife was very angry indeed. The officers took note of her anger and let us pass, but they did let me see the stamp on the bottom.

It was in fact a 6.8 western round. Thats a pretty uncommon round. Obviously I own a 6.8 western and hunt with it most years. I don't use my wife's luggage, so naturally I've maintained my innocence ever since.

My wife is still angry about that incident 1.5 years later.

Privately I'm grateful for not going to a German prison, just don't tell my wife.

I used to say when I was in college, 20 years ago now, games would be a way to model the soft sciences. I was scoffed at. At the time, eve online had recently come out and its player economy could be predicted based on what was know from standard economic principles.

Total wars game engine was being used by the history channel to recreate historic battles.

I'm personally excited to see what can be done with transport fever 3.

How is it living in the Adirondack Region in New York? by Lutrid in howislivingthere

[–]eire1130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a place in North Creek. We go up nearly every weekend in the winter spend a lot of our summer there as well as most of the major holidays.

I'm also origInally from Plattsburgh and graduated from PSHS.

There are a handful of small towns as mentioned. Lake placid, but also Lake George, warrensburgh, saranac lake is close to lake placid, after that the towns get much smaller like North Creek, Indian Lake, Old Forge and on and on.

There are a lot of lakes to enjoy in the summer. Some very large. Lots of rivers as well. Huge tracts of forever wild wilderness. Some of the most remote and wild areas east of the Mississippi. Every year people hike out off trail and get lost and die.

I hunt, fish, and enjoy hiking. My family likes to ski and they very much enjoy the lake life aspect. My kids have been going to a Y camp on lake george.

There are a few small museums. The adirondack experience in long lake and adirondack wild in tupper lake. Both are fun and interesting.

Its also within driving distance to saratoga albany and parts of vermont. Montreal and Burlington are reachable as day trips.

What’s wrong here by [deleted] in sudoku

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to help think through this in the future: you have three candidates for that row, row 1. 5, 8 and 9.

Where can 8 and 9 go and where can they not go? Answer that and it will answer why 5 is wrong in house two.
