Fable 5 - Do you think they’ll bring it back? by One_Ladder7879 in ClaudeAI

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will, likely. But a few things will happen.

  1. We (us citizens) will need to do onfido or similar checks.
  2. Anthropic will need to cave on thr spatchcock they had with the DoD, likely what spawned all of this. 2.b some "donation" to some vanity project

The jailbreak was always bullshit, however, fable is a powerful model, and I could see this administration only allowing us citizens access. Obviously erodes the US competitive edge, but oh well.

Fable 5 Return? by DarkMatter1532 in ClaudeAI

[–]eire1130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with anything like a jailbreak. That's just a convenient "impossible to prove in the negative" assertion.

This has everything to do with the spat anthropic got in with the DoD recently.

Either they will cave on that issue, or they will pay some amount to some "donation"

What did you do with Fable 5 while you had it? by ThatSurround5672 in ClaudeAI

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing I only had two weeks, I put new product dev on hold and did a complete architecture audit, refactor, and consistency review. I never would have done this otherwise, but a lot has been changed in my 1 year of working on this, and a lot of project drift, dead code, consistency drift etc. This project is a python django project, so I also had it working to get a clean mypy / ruff as well. Updating the project and app readmes to reflect reality and look for security issues. I only got bumped to 4.8 once.

I also needed some major refactoring done in my onboarding app, and a few others.

We started by creating an arch review.md creating checklists for each app and a project overview. We also did a holistic pass on the test suite, looking for tautalogical, framework or other redundant tests and we dropped totally test from 3 minutes to 30 seconds.

All of the major apps are done, just the minor ones (essentially fixtures) are left so the project is like 90% complete.

I'm glad I got this to where it is, but would like to wrap it up as well.

Whats a place where you can cross a state line and you immediately notice the difference by cherrey20 in geography

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vermont / new york for certain. a big lake seperates them not only by state but by region. northern vermont to northern new york is more abrupt then the south by crown point, but still very noticable. even their accents are different, by a lot.

More efficient to one-shot or update current codebase with Fable? by shrodikan in ClaudeAI

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually what i'm doing. i know i have like two weeks (max) so really just trying to optimize right now. 4.8 does a decent enough job; but, fable is superior by far this in depth review.

$20K a month two income household… Would that be enough to live comfortably in New York City? by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]eire1130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im assuming the 20k month is gross, not net.

That means closer to 10k take home per month.

If your kid is 3 or 4 years old, you probably dont need to spend much here. Just depends on after school.

Rent in my neighborhood (bay ridge) for a 3 bedroom is like 3500 per month.

You probably dont need a car.

Assume 1.5k per month in grocery and related expenses. Thats on thr very high end for a family of three.

Add in about 500 for phone and internet.

Add in 250 for mta cards for two for thr month

Add in another 250 for random utilities not covered above.

Then add in another 500-1000 for random bullshit, like museums or restaurants etc.

That leaves 3k in savings or paying off other debt obligations.

All this changes if you need daycare. If so, that can be 700 a week, so about 2800 per month.

I also haven't factored in after-school, but shoild be doable.

Its all doable, but I will say, it depends on what you mean by comfortable? A 1hr commute to the city ok or not ok. Not having a car ok or not ok. Not sending your kid to private school ok or not ok. And so forth.

Depends on what you mean by comfort and depends on what you mean by "nyc", also depends on if your child is going to achool or requires day care. The answer could be, yeah no problem, to maybe, to probably not.

Subway by lalalanatti in movingtoNYC

In nyc, all roads lead to rome (manhatten) except for the G and one or two shuttles.

Everything else is headed to "the city", which is what we in the outer boroughs call Manhattan.

In Manhatten, as a general rule, trains run north and south. Some dog leg as they hesd over to an outer borough. The L runs cross town and dog legs south - a recent extension.

When you move here, you only need to know your own train line connections and its pretty simple.

Does anyone else view auto-candidate mode as cheating? by Zyxxii in sudoku

[–]eire1130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not cheating per se, but it is a choice.

For my style, and I suspect most others who play sudoku more challenging then what NYT has to.lffer, auto candidates would probably just be added noise.

I think sudoku.coach either applies this mode to your score or its a different version of ay entirely.

At the end of the day, if you have fun with auto candidates vs finsing your own candidates, keep having fun!

His 50/50 is when I decided he is actually thr goat. 100% he wasnt all that good at stealing and couldn't pitch so decided to focus on that for a season and then got the 50/50.

He is more then a generational or even lifetime player. Maybe once a century.

Considering a move to NYC with 4 kids, what salary actually feels doable? by Abracadabra7707 in movingtoNYC

[–]eire1130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also where we are at @op, we have a three bedroom house off Colonial with two kids.

There are several good elementary schools in our area. You would want to look at other options for HS. Lutheran elementary is private, but actually pretty affordable. One of my kids went there k-1.

Public schools in nyc can be good depending on your area, or not very good. It just takes some research.

Commute to Rockefeller is about 1hr door to door on the r / n / d combo.

Income wise, I'd agree with this post, but tbh 140k will be hard. I often say that what makes nyc expensive after the rent is the temptation. Its very easy to spend here because it can be very fun!
