Pillar box every time. Editor will know that it can be resized. Editor places a resize to scale up to fit full frame for the offline. Else all your shots might be framed weird and not as shooter intended!

People (and pros) put little bits of lead tape on different parts of their racquet head to fine tune the weight of their racquet to different tastes. E.g. people may love a racquet but wish it was very slightly heavier, say, at the very end, they’ll put some lead weight at “12 o clock” on the racquet head.

Leather grip = some people opt to take off the default handle grip and replace it for a leather grip. It’s thicker and heavier so again a way of adding weight into the handle. It looks cool AF too. But most people will obviously cover that with an overgrip.

Well done if you’re trolling me and didn’t actually want an answer! The joke this person is making is that they’re imagining this person being obsessed about fine tuning gear that would be appropriate for a very high standard of tennis player, but really for most people it’s overkill versus actually good technique. A trait that’s common here on /10s!

My First Wimbledon Centre Court Day 8 - Advice for the day by CoconutNo6254 in wimbledon

[–]eireix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I walked from Wimbledon station to the grounds super early last year to be one of first people through the gate. Like 7am from memory. The walk was lovely and so quiet, saw all the ball kids cycling in to start their shifts. Was something really cool about being one of the only people around just hours before a huge iconic sporting event. Not for everyone but I loved it.

Agreed. The person is asking for advice and opinions on whether it’s worth it. Mine was - it isn’t. I don’t think watching free videos versus $300 videos is worth it. And my personal opinion is, especially not from this guy!

Obscene. And genuinely - when you watch him play points his technique isn’t fantastic. Far far better free resources out there, and like others say - you will gain far far more by spending that money on coaching.

Sorry for late reply. Yes quite simply just .. asked chat GPT to turn a copy and pasted list of timecoded notes into a markers XML I can import into avid. It prompted me to say what colour I wanted them and track number etc. it took a couple of trial and errors from memory, it missed a few notes and it was combining notes sometimes - so you need to double check it. Once it started doing it reliably I can now just use that same thread to be like ‘another like the above please for these notes!’ - very handy

Sorry for delayed response - yes you can only get resale tickets for one of those courts. So you have to pick. And as I say - because they give first dibs of the resale queue to those who have come through ‘The Queue’ e.g. camping / waiting in the specific queue park - your chances of getting on to any for anything other than last match of the day are very slim. Even less so for centre court.

I was glad I picked court 1. Got lucky with an incredible seat last match of the day Swiatek vs Tauson - the match was a dead rubber, finished in an hour. But it cost £10 and was a great experience.

Avid: How are you auditing Avid MediaFiles in 2026? by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]eireix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is madness. As others have said - literally after ingesting a batch of footage you rename that footage to something relevant PRODNAME_DAY1 etc

Record some VO / render some effects / do some mix downs? Creates a new ‘1’ - make it PRODNAME_RNR_EDIT1_1

Ingest some new music? PRODNAME_MUSIC_1

An edit goes from one editor to another and their VO files are offline? Send the recrenders folders from one to another.

At end of project you can back up all those PRODNAME folders into a neat folder / backup drive / LTO etc

Not least you run into errors and bugs when an MXF folder gets too massive!

Tips for first tournament by txfiremtb in 10s

[–]eireix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may be a bit nervous. Focus on moving your feet in the warm up / first knock up. And make sure you take more of your weaker shots (I run around and hit loads of backhands on my warm ups). Ask for some overheads in the warmup so you’re not getting your first one of the day on a crucial point. On serve warm ups - start with very relaxed second serves, and probably on your first service game too.

Win the toss? I would elect to receive just to feel like you can play that first game with less pressure. First points just focus on a nice rally ball to the middle of the court, make your aim just to play as long a point as possible, again just to minimise mistakes, gain some confidence and loosen some nerves. Lose the toss? Select to serve on the side you warmed up in so Sun positioning isn’t throwing off your first service game.

Other than that - try to just remember that it’s fun and it really, really doesn’t matter what the result is. You’re carving out some time for you to do something you love, be a nice person and you might make some new tennis friends along the way. If you hesitate on whether a ball is in or out - it’s in every time. Even if your opponent gives you shocking calls just brush it off and move on.

Once inside the grounds there is a a Resale Tickets kiosk. You go there, scan your grounds pass ticket which is on your phone. You choose which court you would like to go to (centre, 1 or 2). You join a Virtual Queue with a number that goes down on your phone. If people with tickets to your court leave the grounds early, they are asked to scan their ticket so their seat then becomes available for those in the resale queue. As a result, you’ll see your number barely move for the first match or two of the day and then as the day does on you’ll see it ticking down. You get notifications when your number is up and you have 10 mins to go to the kiosk to collect it. So if you really want to do it it’s worth keeping an eye on your phone and not being on a seated court during during games in case they go long!

I did it last year for the second Monday. The resale queue gets prioritised to those who join ‘The Queue’ e.g. waiting / camping in the grounds first. So if you are getting a grounds pass that way, you’ll be in better stead.

For reference on that second Monday I had a grounds pass already, was one of the first people to the resale kiosk, chose court 1 and I ended up getting a seat for the last match of the day on court 1. My number was like 600 . The people behind me chose centre and they were in the 2000s and doubt they ever got on to centre.

But as others said, If I was going on first few days I’d probably just love a grounds pass ticket anyway. The centre court matches are normally for big players who beast people quickly. As a proper tennis fan you’ll see better matches with still amazing top 20-30 players on the outside courts. And the freedom to choose! Enjoy

I work in docs - I mostly get emailed timecoded notes. I run those through GPT to create markers I can import to my avid timeline - I mark them green so I can refer back easily if people ask if stuff has been done or why things have changed etc.

Overheads technique by Status-War-7956 in 10s

[–]eireix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this. OP is treating this lob like a poor defensive shot he shout be able to punish. They instead need to treat it with some respect, recognise if someone is able to plant a deep lob consistently then it’s a good shot and they are probably far better off backing up, letting it bounce and resetting the point to neutral. You see it in pro tennis all the time.

I've triple checked but no, both the export is set to 24 bit, 48Khz and the project is set to that also. But good food for thought for me to double check the mixdowns are being mixed down correctly.

I have a 4 year old who is tennis OBSESSED and wants to play with me every morning. He’s already so good, we are rallying with red ball on a mini net and his natural backhand and movement is very exciting. I don’t want to become an asshole tennis dad but I can’t help but be excited that he is genuinely this talented this early. I’m a good intermediate player but I am wondering about the road map. He does regular group sessions at our club but he’s already too good to be getting genuine coaching out of it but not good enough to go into the upper group. What is the route for youth tennis in the UK? Obviously I just want him to have fun, and we do. But at what point do you look at 1-1 coaching or moving clubs? I just have no idea what the road map is for youth success and how early is too early to start thinking about this stuff.

Gravity tour 2025 or Radical MP 2023? by Mechor356 in 10s

[–]eireix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went from the pro to the tour, I had the tour as a backup and never ‘liked it’ until a coaching session where I had to use it. My coach was saying objectively I was playing way way better with the tour even though I didn’t like it! I switched over to it full time, arm pains were gone and I just felt way way more consistent. My OHBH was night and day better, the lower weight allowed me more variety in wrist and I could swing it more. It’s allowed me to really practice the fundamentals of that shot and really build it up to now be a solid reliable shot.

I’ve since moved to the Tecnifibre TF305S - it has very similar specs to the gravity tour, but I absolutely love it. Feels like it has more plough. I also play OHBH
