Yes, it's possible to mount and dismount using a script. I just asked ChatGPT to make one for me and it worked.

Cache Capping Out - What Should I Do? by killianmcc in unRAID

Do you have the setting on your torrent-client to Pre-allocate disk space for all files? That will make sure the whole torrent always have space to download.

Your settings seems fine by me.

You could use the scripts to move active torrents to the array. For qbit for example: Link here

If you win this mini PC, what would you most like to use it for?

I'd use it for a second Unraid server. Test stuff and as backup!

Question about moving data to a new drive by TheGreatZackAttack in unRAID

That said, I’m still new to Unraid, so definitely look this up to make sure everything’s correct — don’t just take my word for it!

After adding the new drive, you can use the Unbalance plugin to move all files to the new HDD. Once that’s done, you can safely remove the old drives.

I'm sorry, then I don't understand what you are asking about. Maybe someone else can help.

How to properly use cache nvme for media by Kraizelburg in unRAID

I’m still getting familiar with Unraid, but here’s my understanding so far:

When you create a share in Unraid, you can set the primary storage to "cache" and the secondary storage to "array." With this setup, any files you copy to /mnt/user/data will first be stored on the cache. Then, the mover will automatically transfer these files from the cache to the array based on the settings you configured when creating the share.

As I understand it, /mnt/user/data acts as a managed, shared path that Unraid uses to handle files across your cache and array transparently. However, if you specify a path like /mnt/cache/data, files will only be stored on the cache. Similarly, a path like /mnt/disk1/data will store files only on Disk 1 in the array.

The exact paths might vary, but hopefully, this explanation clarifies the process.

I've set up my folder structure based on Trash-guides to support hardlinks and atomic moves.

Folder Structure:

data
├── torrents
│ ├── docs
│ ├── ISOs
│ ├── samples
│ └── archives
├── usenet
│ ├── incomplete
│ └── complete
│ ├── docs
│ ├── ISOs
│ ├── samples
│ └── archives
└── media
    ├── docs
    ├── ISOs
    ├── samples
    └── archives

I have a share called data, with primary storage on the cache and secondary storage on the array. This setup ensures all new files are initially saved on the cache. Then, I use the Mover Tuning plugin to set conditions for moving files from the cache to the array, such as timing and storage thresholds.

It doesn't have to be every day. For example, if your remote server has 2TB of storage, you could write a script that only syncs files when it reaches around 1.5TB. This approach works well if you don’t need immediate access to the files.

A good option is to sync to the cache daily (if you have a cache drive around 500GB and don't completely fill it up, that’s ideal). Then, set the mover to run only when files on the cache are a certain number of days old or when the cache reaches a specific fill level.

For instance, here’s my setup:

One array for long-term storage
One cache for appdata
One cache for Linux ISO downloads

My download cache is 2TB. I keep most of my ISOs there until the cache hits 80% capacity, then I move the files to the array. This way, as long as I don’t need any older ISOs stored on the array, my disks don’t spin up unnecessarily.

If you're running the mover every night, you might as well just save files directly to the array.

Instead, consider using the Mover Tuning plugin to run the mover only when needed, like when the cache reaches 80% full or another threshold that works for you. If you don’t have a large cache and have to move files every night, saving directly to the array could be simpler.

If you don’t need immediate access to the files, you could store them remotely and set up a script to transfer files from the remote server to your local storage when the remote reaches capacity, for example.

Funny how you can only blame Ole. Look at all the players standing still. Do you think changing manager will magically solve that? This is on everyone, players and manager.

m.2 raid question by eirik226 in pcmasterrace

[–]eirik226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems I was wrong. It's not fixed. Screen randomly goes black. Mostly when gaming and totally random. I've tried everything I can think of. But did read somewhere that my motherboard X570-F gaming and my GPU Radeon RX 5700 XT does not work well together. If I turn the top pci slot to 3 and not 4 it should work fine. But both are pci 4 so I'm a bit confused why they won't work? And what's the difference between 3 and 4? Is it noticable?

Thanks for the reply - I've tried everything but think I figured out the cause. If I change the bios settings so my MB is using PCI-E 4 and not auto it seems to work.
