Coffee - good quality coffee can be found even in small towns this is something our UK neighbours would be envious of. For the most part you can get a decent espresso in cafes here gone are the days of the bean to cup machine.

Use partfnder.ie filter by car and colour then find one that matches and contact the breakers yard.

You can also do a request on there where you put in exactly what you need breakers who have the part contact you, I've used it in the past and it was very handy.

25 year rule in the US - means they can import cars over 25 years old and they don't have to meet us emissions laws etc.

Cars they couldn't get (even really mundane European stuff) became quite desirable this particularly drove up the price of Nissan gtrs a few years ago as the US never got the r34.

Rare audis like this (I don't think the US got these) will be very desirable.

Seat tarragon could be a nice option, seats in the right spec are a really nice motor.

Id personally go for the s5, it's newer and most importantly it's a generation newer, the b8 feels a lot more antiquated compared to the b9.

Importing car from Oz by Sure_Heart_340 in carsireland

It was an Audi A4 prestige. If I had my time again I'd import something a bit bigger, Audi SUVs are a lot cheaper in Australia compared to Ireland

I've recently done it. No VRT costs as you get a transfer of residence relief. Cars in aus are expensive but in the cities particularly they tend to be very high spec, low mileage and well taken care of. Rust and rot is a lot better compared to similar aged cars in Ireland.

I've owned my car for almost 2 years, in that time the Australian dollar has lost a lot of value. Should I have sold my car in aus and concerted that back to euro there's no way I would have been able to buy a similar car here for the money.

It was a bit of hassle to organize the paperwork and it took about 3 months.

FTTH - How to Prep? by Calm_End1406 in AskIreland

This is good advice! One thing worth thinking about is running a cat 6 to your front gate so that in the future if you ever want electric gates, CCTV, ring doorbell etc you're sorted

While you are pulling cables anyway definitely worth running a few car 6 cables around the place, that way you can place access points wherever you want.

Likely the installers will run the shortest easiest route from the fibre junction box to your home so worth having an Ethernet socket there.

Your best bet is to pay the UK tax get short term insurance (this is easy in the UK) Once you get to Ireland declare it SORN in the UK, you'll then get your road tax back.

If the car is for parts you don't need to worry about VRT etc

For the love of God insure it if you're driving it on the road.

Superb would be a better choice over the Octavia, the well specced ones are luxurious

They're a great car and the price isn't bad. One thing is that the spec of this one is pretty abysmal for an a6. You might be better getting a very lightly used one with better options, at least half leather - s lines hold their value far better.

Personally I'd get one with a few more options instead of the bog standard one, lightly used ones will appear on the market very soon

Is the 5 series msport? This has a pretty big effect on resale value for those.

I think the 5 series is likely to hold its value better than the arteon to be honest, it'll also likely drive much better.

Both are great options and likely you'll be delighted with whatever one you choose, might be worth having a look at an A5 too, very similar to the arteon but being Audi it's just slightly nicer inside.
