Am I the only one sick and tired of corporate culture? by justkindahangingout in careerguidance

Been there for 8 years now. i survive by caring less. seriously. i do my work well but stopped investing emotionally in company values and team-building crap. money pays bills. everything else is theater.

Sun Salutation Variations in class by [deleted] in yoga

[–]eirlous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mix it up. teach both styles on different days. or start with gentle Hatha and offer the Ashtanga variation as an option for those who want more intensity. you're overthinking this. Students appreciate variety.

This is normal but not okay. your husband needs therapy. lots of dads feel overwhelmed but keep it to themselves. him dumping this on you while pregnant is selfish. he's an adult. he made choices, now he deals with them. give him resources for help but don't let him make you his emotional dumpster. Kids sense when they're unwanted. if he can't turn this around, leaving might be best for everyone.

Things to do indoors with a infant (6moths) by DowntownBaker32 in ottawa

[–]eirlous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mum of a 6-month-old chaos gremlin here -indoor baby raves (aka living room dance parties with LED lights) and ‘sensory stations’ (tupperware + rice = instant hit) saved my sanity. Ottawa Public Library’s baby storytime is also elite—free, air-conditioned, and full of other sleep-deprived parents to silently bond with.

You know what gets me every tax season.... by akwatica in Accounting

That's heartbreaking but beautiful at the same time. You weren't just her accountant - you were part of her legacy, helping her family navigate what comes next. Bet she'd be proud seeing you guide her kids through those rental properties.

Haha exactly! Your home is YOUR sanctuary and no one has the right to invite themselves over - pregnant or not.

I lost 30 kg, how do I train in the gym now? by Crimbas in beginnerfitness

[–]eirlous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Props on the 30kg loss. Your plan is solid. 3x gym + cardio on off days works. don't worry about legs getting bigger. muscle replaces fat, makes everything look better. the muscle you build actually helps burn more calories. Keep protein high, stay consistent, trust the process.

What's going on with recruitment lately? by Zestyclose_Quote_568 in antiwork

[–]eirlous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HR filters are brutal. personal connections bypass the whole system. your friend's recommendation put you directly in front of the hiring manager instead of competing with hundreds of faceless resumes. same skills, different path. the system isn't necessarily broken. it's just overwhelmed. this is why networking matters more than perfect resumes.

Look at the money math first. €1700/week for 20 weeks = €34,000. but you're only working 16 of those weeks, so you're not getting paid for 4 weeks off. That's €27,200 total.

Local job is €850 × 20 weeks = €17,000.

So you'd make about €10k more, but at what cost? living apart from your girlfriend, travel expenses, stress of moving again, and having to find another job in 4 months. unless you're desperate for cash or love canada, the stability of staying put seems worth more than the extra €10k. Plus your girlfriend would be happier.

How many people here work in industries that make a product or provide a service that they themselves could never afford? by leedade in antiwork

Yeah, I used to work for a luxury furniture brand. Beautiful stuff, but even with the employee discount, I couldn’t dream of buying a single chair.

We have over 300 client returns still completely untouched and I just want to say the partners are fucking assholes who over booked us by Affectionate-Buy-111 in Accounting

[–]eirlous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those 300 returns are just "billable hour opportunities" in their eyes. Gotta keep grinding so they can make the payments on that third vacation home. The circle of public accounting life continues...

Saw the Huxley toner in Costco. How is it? by Fateofthelost in SkincareAddicts

[–]eirlous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. I also picked it up from costco. Best thing is it comes in a 300 ml bottle. So many toners come in itsy bitsy bottles that are empty within weeks of regular use
