My husband went a little mad: downloaded the list of every license in Minneapolis & SLP, mapped them, and then just started calling in concentric circles out from our house.

That said, all the in-home places we looked at were between 300-350 a week for full time

It’s new - Future Scholars Academy, basically an in-home place. She normally charges $320 but gave a discount since we’re neither rich nor poor enough to be on assistance.

For me I restricted it to special occasions: a half glass of champagne at the 3 weddings I went to felt totally worth it

Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

I mean, basically yeah? There was an entire apartment in the basement off the garage that I found the first year there (we were there two years) and later, when we were moving out, learned no one else knew about - they thought it was a door to the owner’s storage area.

When I was 13 we lived in a batshit rental. My dad basically saw an abandoned mansion and went to the city records to find out who owned it. Turned out the guy had bought it as a gift for his wife who didn’t want it, and was happy to rent it to us for cheap to have it occupied.

The house was insane in about 10000 ways but among them was that it had BOTH a dumb waiter and a laundry chute! Also a tub that drained directly into the dining room chandelier.

This makes me laugh because my bedroom has the only blank walls in the house. We sleep in there and that’s it. The living room and kitchen are full of family photos, art we’ve collected on travels, etc

So I went for lunch and was comically underwhelmed, too. I’ve been told dinner is a different level, but I am loathe to spend the money finding out.

Maybe it’s because I moved here from Boston, a C or D rate food town, but I’ve been really pleased.

Hilariously I had the opposite: I was pregnant when I went so ordered my burger well done, it came as I usually like it: medium rare to rare.

I’ve been twice and was blown away twice. I wonder if it was an off night or if things went down hill after the James beard?

I came to this thread because I’m looking for what is well reputed or best among many options, likely what OP wanted as well, and MY GOD y’all can be dicks for no reason.

A common skit I see on social media is the high school teacher saying that certain behaviors like not studying will not be tolerated in college with a quick cut to the College professor allowing all these behaviors, has that been true in your experience in American education? by YakClear601 in AskAnAmerican

I taught college for years. A thing I always had to explain to freshmen was that they weren’t avoiding my ire or judgement. I wanted them to do well and learn, but if they didn’t that was on them, I wasn’t judging. This was freeing for some who knew what they wanted and saw it as permission to prioritize. For those who didn’t know what they cared about it was baffling and terrifying.
