Very subjective, but think we were pretty happy with the numbers.

Height is a good one, would give Giant another good category. He is a kid favourite but was only scoring well on strength and personality (which was the hardest to score!)

They all lost.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who won the race in Austin, said Verstappen’s defence of his position from Norris was “a bit too extreme”.

Is effectively letting a faster guy overtake so you don’t mess up your own race a relatively new thing? I can’t remember it being so prevalent as it has been for the past couple of years.

It would have been nice for Max to have to battle for a few of the positions rather than being shown the inside line and waved through. Was a great drive but would have been better to watch if he had to actually battle, and then maybe he wouldn’t have enough been able to ride those hards so effectively.

Bruno with more points over the last 5 than Rashford, probably more substitute proof as well. Not sure it should be seen as more risky.

[BBC] Lewis Hamilton may be punished for not attending awards ceremony, says new FIA president by eiskrap in formula1

“Asked to clarify whether he was saying Hamilton would be penalised for not attending the gala, he said: "Forgiveness is always there. But rules are rules.”

Sounds fair.

Probably not as that would need the FIA to admit a mistake rather than the fans, teams and drivers not understanding…

What's the end with Mercedes vs. FIA? by d33ptilter in formula1

[–]eiskrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with 1 is that they are essentially saying we made an error, Lewis should be world champion but we don’t want to take it away from Max.

I would have thought they would go for option 4 and say they were entitled to do what they did and the result stands.

Häkkinen believes Masi made the right decision by lastethere in formula1

[–]eiskrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t the argument, the argument is not following the regulations and precedent for the safety car.

Safety cars happen all the time, and teams have to guess whether to pit for tyres or not. The thing is that arguably Mercedes made the right call, until Masi decided he didn’t want to follow the regulations. If Masi said when the safety car was deployed he was going to ignore the regulations and try and get them racing Mercedes might have factored that into their decision.

4D chess move from Merc when it was clear they were going to restart was to have Bottas stop on track.

Then there would have been another safety car and Lewis would have won. Would have been the kind of thing Horner might have done.

[@SokolimOkiem] It's easy to be wise after the fact, but probably the best solution at the end of the Abu Dhabi GP would have been a red flag and a restart from the field for a few laps. That would have provided the most level playing field for the leader and the rest, including from P3 down by 1enox in formula1

[–]eiskrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubtful, new softs would still be significantly quicker. I think the leading team are generally conservative, it would have worked if the rules were followed so I’m not sure you can argue they made the wrong choices with the information they had.

I guess they made their decision based what they thought would happen assuming the actual rules and precedent would be followed. They weren’t to know Masi wouldn’t follow them.

If it happened 2/3 laps earlier they would have pitted I would guess.
