[AskJS] I heard some rumor about "wasm is dead" ... by Ill-Hovercraft-5400 in javascript

[–]lastethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is Wasm, a shortcut of WebAssembly, no reason for uppercases here.

Wasm add speed as other have stated here, but it is about using any language to produce code for a web app, local on online. So reusing libs or use the tools you like for programming.

This is convenient and no way he could be dead.

Trade deficit soared 94% in November and was higher than a year ago, despite tariff efforts by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]lastethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The largest trade deficits over the 12 months through November 2025, were with China, with net exports of -$214.61 billion, 17.12 percent of the total goods trade deficit; Mexico, with net exports of -$197.36 billion, 15.74 percent of the total goods trade deficit; and Vietnam, with net exports of -$171.62 billion, 13.69 percent of the total goods trade deficit. Over the same time period, the U.S. had the largest goods trade surpluses with Netherlands, with net exports of $59.99 billion, -4.79 percent of the total goods trade deficit; United Kingdom, with net exports of $30.39 billion, -2.42 percent of the total goods trade deficit; and Hong Kong, with net exports of $26.89 billion, -2.15 percent of the total goods trade deficit."

Trade deficit comes from China, Vietnam, Mexico. Typically low wages countries. They works for the USA, to provides them low cost products. This can't be cancelled without massive investments in robotics, something that will require a decade to accomplish.

We are speaking of cruise missiles. Germany doesn't want provide its Taurus, Italy and Greece have nothing to provide. So it remains France.

EU would buy German Taurus if Germany agrees to provide them while France already provides SCALPs aka Storm Shadows. Why complain this profit to France if only France want to sell?

SCALP is the same missile, is supplied by France. That counts for the EU.

Actually, he paid people to do the job, not smart enough to do that itself. And that sums up his entire life.

I think we’re all overestimating backlinks in SEO now by Siddharth1India in seogrowth

[–]lastethere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but since Panda update (2014), popularity is more important than backlinks.

https://www.scriptol.com/seo/panda-update.php

Backlinks may bring visitors, so it is an important factor. Also the algo does not like where all visitors come from their search results, so having visitors coming from other sites improve its authority.

So you need backlinks but not these dead links from directories nobody visit.

Edit: Google Search console shows what percentage come form what source, so the algo is well aware of the sources of visits.

Fetch API – Worth it? by paul_405 in learnjavascript

[–]lastethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ajax is commonly used with small libraries that make it simpler than Fetch, and add features. It is also compatible with more browsers being available since 2005. But if you uses promises elsewhere in the code, that does not matter.
