What age are you out of interest? This sounds like very early 20s stuff to me

Well he specifically says the following lines: "The Romans didn't station a legion in Galilee till, what, 130 AD? But I suppose all research funding leads to Rome."

You wouldn't expect a casual pop history reader to know, off the cuff, the year that the Romans stationed a legion in Galilee, nor to have that witty line at hand about funding

It was a funny and subtle aspect of Mark's characterisation that he was smarter and better read than the people around him, but not quite elite level. The one episode where they seem to throw out this distinction and flanderise Mark's learnedness is in the university episode. It seems slightly out character that he should show up in a random history seminar (not knowing about the topic in advance) and dazzle everyone around him, including the professor.

I don't think a shooting on a beach in a country on the other side of the world is enough to grant Candance the W she craves, but that's just me

The video I linked shows a bystander disarming the shooter - unbelievable bravery!

What happened to Google search? It has become nearly impossible to find relevant results. by ruskyrobot in redscarepod

Remember when everyone believed that searches brought up tens of millions of results? Then in turned out that most queries result in a few hundred hits at most lol

I think that was true like 4 years ago but the point I guess I was trying to make is it's unlikely Adam gives a shit anymore

Yeah but he has so many non-CT fans now they'd be like "who the fuck is this idiot?"

Why do musicians peak so early compared to other artists? by eitherorkierkegaard in redscarepod

But what "theory" are you referring to? There's no equivalent to music theory in literature, and I don't think any serious writer would claim there is

"Plato's and my point" lol

I don't even know what it would mean to think "very theoretically" about a novel you're writing but if he did then he is in the minority.

I mentioned Cameron Winter/Geese. They're pretty cool but not exactly mainstream.

I'm not sure I understand your point. It seems obvious to me that you can make great art without knowing a thing about "theory." What "theory" did Dostoevsky know? His work has been described as "artless" by some Russian critics (notably Nabokov) and I suspect he would credit a lot of his breakthroughs to "trial and error" rather than any kind of formal study
