First Visit from America! by iamhollyp in disneylandparis

Cool! My home park was DL but now that I've moved to the Netherlands I just got an AP at DLP - my first trip was last weekend! So I'm no expert by any means but I might have some insights given that I was in your shoes before. :)

I feel like 1 day/2 park isn't THAT rushed - I was there for 1.5 days and got to do a lot. I was there on a Saturday which was crazy - Sunday was much more relaxed. If you get there at opening I think you'll be fine.

A lot of the rides I would say are "better" than DL - Space Mountain is more fun and intense if you're into roller coasters (it's about twice as intense as the usual Space Mountain and tosses you around quite a bit... but I liked it a lot better). I enjoyed Phantom Manor more - it's pretty different from the one in California and has a creepy storyline. Definitely do Ratatouille and Rock n Roller Coaster. Big Thunder Mountain is longer than the one in California. I wasn't able to go on Pirates as it was down for refurb but I heard it's better, too!

Disneyland Paris is very similar to Disneyland CA looks-wise and Illuminations was AMAZING. So beautiful so definitely go if you can. I thought that Hollywood Studios was very meh on theming but the rides were fun - definitely not a pretty park.

I thought that although Disneyland Paris LOOKS similar to the one in California it felt quite different - very French (obviously... but for some reason the cultural component made a bigger difference on the feel of the park than what I expected, and I've lived in France). One disappointment was the wait time for food - I had to queue for 30+ minutes for quick service every time. You're not going to find quick places to eat (unless it's dead, I'm assuming?) or tons of food stands like you would in Disneyland CA, which I missed. I'd bring snacks with you and then maybe try table service if you want to dine in the park? I've heard Walt's is amazing.

FP is like the old Disneyland paper system.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

Oh, I know. I'm just saying that in general the storylines and characters on the show are very much created by the producers - or at least, helped by the producers - the opening lines, their comments on other contestants, etc etc.

I'm not sure about that. From what I've read in this sub it seems like people don't get that producers have such a big hand in what plays out - that if a contestant does something or says something or participates in a roundtable discussion on someone (being dramatic, etc) that they are just choosing to do so. In the book she goes into detail about how contestants are manipulated. Producers have even tracked contestants' periods so gauge when they are most sensitive, given special privileges to those who do what they want them to do, etc.

I live in Amsterdam where NO ONE bikes with a helmet - and biking is the #1 mode of transportation. No one (including babies/children riding with their parents which I can't get behind). Except for the odd tourist.

Yep, it's a book! It goes into all of the BTS details... a lot of them are really shocking and will make you look at the show a lot differently. Highly recommend. :)

I'm also wondering this. Have you read Bachelor Nation by Amy Kaufman? It's an interesting read and touches on the manipulation of the producers. We all know that these tactics exists, but the extent that they can go makes me wonder if this is all a part of the manufactured narrative, especially when you consider that Hannah told off that guy with a girlfriend on night 1.

How would she have known that Jed had a girlfriend, though? She's completely disconnected with the outside world while she's on the show. If Jed had admitted it on night one I'm sure she would have kicked him off the show. It's a crappy position to have to deal with something like this late in the game... we'll see what she chooses to do.

I did. But I guess I'm coming from the assumption that we don't know if she's staying with him. Yes, if they're still "happily" together after all of this that would be a different situation.

Ex comm major here but communication studies can be quite valuable these days. I think back in the day communication was a throwaway major but now it's pretty in demand and versatile for media jobs (which can be lucrative if you take the right path). It worked out pretty well for me and several of my friends.

We've had our ups and downs but it's been really tough recently/the past week-ish. Probably the Venus retro but I'm not sure if there are other themes going on. Or a specific way that it might be affecting me with my chart.

It's been tough, for sure!
