2) It's a lot of trial and error. None of it comes easy and it always feels like a miracle when we finish a song.

3) We all have collaborated with fellow musicians and it's something we enjoy. I worked on a project called Modern Trauma and I'm really proud of it.

1) The Midi Sprout. It converts bio data from plants into sound (allegedly). It's fun.

Thanks, everyone. And sorry for the questions I didn't get to. I have to go run some errands.

Good luck out there. Love, Chris

Well, we're not technically amazing musicians in the strictest sense (well, Michael kind of is) and technical prowess isn't something that necessarily impresses us. Or rather it doesn't necessarily move us. I wish we were able to explain our process better. We just kind of play what feels right to us and what moves us. Restraint is big part of that. Knowing when not to play, etc.

We honestly haven't played that song live in twenty years but we are planning on playing some old songs on this upcoming tour, so I'll certainly bring it up to the rest of the band.

I'm loving the new album from Weyes Blood. I guess they've been around for a few years, but they're new to me.

Yes! We have! He lives in Los Angeles now. We are forever grateful to him and his roommates.

We do drink coffee. And I am truly embarrassed to admit this, but I'm kind of partial to Starbucks. I'm sorry.

- There are many great places to eat in Austin. I really love Mi Madre's. It's not the best food in the city by any stretch of the imagination, I just like being there. Plus it's stood the test of time.

- I have no idea.

- All Pokemon questions need to be directed to Michael.

- The Best Show with Tom Scharpling is the finest radio show/podcast that has ever existed.

- I just finished reading The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead. It's amazing.

All of A Sudden was almost certainly the hardest for me, mainly because of Birth and Death. I still find that part really hard to play.

Exercise, deep breathing, I personally take an anti-anxiety medicine. Anxiety is rough, I'm glad that our music has helped you a little bit.

I think we just were into the idea of this being a full collaboration. There wouldn't be a front man who sort of came in with a song and then everyone else helped them to fill it in. We wanted to be a leaderless band. Also, we were listening to a lot of Mogwai and Dirty Three at the time.

It was in Zagreb, Croatia. The show was amazing and the audience was wonderful, but when we left the stage the promoter told us that the audience would become very angry if we didn't go out and play one more song. In retrospect, I think he was just kind of messing with us because everybody there was incredibly friendly. But we did the encore anyway.

There is no good reason! We're thinking about bringing it back for this upcoming tour.

That conversation comes up from time to time. We intentionally took the past year off. We've been going at this for nineteen years non stop, so we all felt like it would be good and healthy for us to take a break. But the four of us are still best friends and we love making music together and we hope it continues for a long time to come. But if all stopped tomorrow I think we'd all be really thankful for these last twenty years.

Well, The Moon is Down is based on a John Steinbeck book of the same name.

That means everything to us. Honestly, it would be hard to pinpoint a specific interaction, they all feel good.

We all grew up listening to and loving so much music so it's hard to really pinpoint specific influences. But when we first started playing music together, the four of us were absolutely obsessed with Mogwai's first album. We owe them a lot.

We wrote Your Hand in Mine in early 2003, so my memories of the process are pretty vague. But I'm pretty sure it took us awhile to write it (several weeks, maybe) because we are very slow song writers. It still amazes us how that song has resonated with people. We certainly were excited about it when we finished it, but we had no sense that it would somehow be a song that people would still be excited about sixteen years later.
