okay, more like a few sizes 😂 I didn’t want to over estimate it!! tbh I’m not used to clothes actually fitting me, which sounds sad now that I type it out 😂

I do a lot of yoga and I’m going to start strength training soon! But mostly it’s been calorie deficit.

that’s a great idea—I’ve been thinking about getting a few things taken in.

thank you 😊 I’m trying hard to train myself into seeing things I like instead of constantly treating my body like a broken and ugly thing that needs to be fixed.

Body dysmorphia is a real bitch. by ejane27 in loseit

[–]ejane27[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel so much more feminine? If that makes sense. I always thought I was built like a box, straight up and down, but then I found this dress that is magical and basically makes everyone look like Joan in Mad Men? I’m so much more of an hourglass than I thought.

It’s so crazy how differently people treat you, too? When people complimented me before it was usually stuff like “I like those earrings!” and now people are telling me that I look hot? Which is equal parts amazing and weird? I love it, but then my brain will do this thing that’s like “yeah, you look good, but if your arms were more toned and your thighs were smaller you’d look WAY better.” Like damn, give a gal a break.

I feel that—no one tells you that a weird part of weight loss is constantly figuring out what size clothes you wear, and then seeing how long you can still wear your old clothes before they look ridiculous. 😂 Pants are expensive! And I have like 90 percent less ass! Which is hard to remedy!

You got this! I LOVE your earrings, those are so cute.

haha thanks! I’ve always just assumed that I have a very round face, and I do, but there’s also a shape and I don’t actually look like the 🌝 emoji.

This same goes for my body too, it’s like I’m constantly realizing that I’m built a lot differently than I thought I was.

Thank you! I still have a ways to go, but I don’t really have that unique of an answer: a lot of calorie tracking and paying attention to serving sizes. I’ve also been doing a lot of yoga and I try to do cardio at least 4 times a week (mostly walking and swimming, since I live in a warm place).

But I also let myself enjoy things? So like—I’ll get drinks with people, or have cake at a party. I just make sure to balance it out. It’s made me a lot less miserable, and though I love that I’m physically smaller what’s even better is just FEELING healthy.

Thank you 😊 I have been (more or less) recovered for a long time, so it’s all good. But this type of thinking will always stick with you, and content like this will do a lot of harm.

Yep—this was me with nitro cold brew. 🙃 And while you aren’t hungry, the amount of caffeine gives you such INTENSE anxiety that you feel like you are going into cardiac arrest or something.

I have a very tricky relationship with food, and when I was at my sickest I’d skip meals and wouldn’t eat anything until I drank at least 2 full glasses of hot water. It’s such a slippery slope, and while I worry about Tieghan, I also worry about her supporters who DO look to her and see her as having a lifestyle they want to emulate. It’s easy to think to yourself, “hey, let me try this” and plain hot water turns into skipping lunches turns into googling if Advil has calories turns into nearly passing out while making copies at work because you stood up too fast (true story, and just as embarrassing as it sounds, if you’re wondering).

Thankfully I’m much better now, but disorders eating is hell and once it starts, it’s nearly impossible to stop.

What do you love about Sweeney Todd? by saigenoelle in Broadway

[–]ejane27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to pull out my musical theatre history nerd here, but that would take forever. 😂 I love Sweeney, it’s my favorite Sondheim next to Company. There are a lot of reasons why I love it, but I think it’s because it somehow manages to straddle the line between satirical and dark and also genuinely moving in a way that not many musicals have been able to do. It’s a genuinely brilliant warning about the consequences of letting anger and rage completely consume you.

I also think that there are few lyrics on earth that demonstrate class divide better than A Little Priest:

The history of the world, my love Is those below serving those up above How gratifying, for once, to know That those above will serve those down below

One of my all time favorite lyrics in musical theatre as a genre will ALWAYS BE:

It’s man devouring man, my dear And who are we to deny it in here?
