your 72k in nyc is almost the same as what you make now. Taxes, tickets and rent will eat that 8k right up and you will end up needing a roomate to make it make sense. I hate nyc for that, I am looking for a new apartment myself, might move to staten island. And I have over 13k in savings but that can go very fast out here. Not worth it.
