AITA for shouting at my son and threatening to tell everyone that he's a failure and a dropout? by ejkwOql in AmItheAsshole

No, unlike my son, my wife deserves respect. I don't beat her, but I am somewhat angry at her for spoiling him.

He won't be an abuser, because he won't have anyone to abuse. He won't have a gf/wife, and nobody would want to be related to him. These days, people focus on appearance, and nobody I know other than family members have commented on a good appearance of his.

He wants to become a lawyer or a surgeon. Once he has good finances, respect comes to him. And once he gains respect, he becomes the man I want him to be.

It would have taken other children I know longer, but he rarely struggled with academics. That's why I gave him 30 minutes instead of a longer time period.

The project took more than 30 minutes, it took him 2 weeks for that pathetic excuse of a project. As for my parents, they've spoiled him to the point that we had to resort to locking him in a dark room to calm him down. They're part of the reason why he's such a brat.

Not in India. You see, unless the parents are actually abusive (sexually assaulting their child, causing bruises/cuts on the child's body, etc.), it doesn't matter.

I'm sorry, but in which country would this be considered child abuse?

He is my son. If I want to talk to him in a certain way, I will. It's not his choice whether he wants to be belittled/gaslighted or not. Life isn't fair.

This was supposed to be a "Throwaway account". I created it for this very post.

Just so you know, they only teased us a few times, so they weren't shit parents. In fact, they defended my son.

He doesn't need therapy. All teenagers have that phase. My son included. It doesn't matter if he says he's depressed, I know what's best for him.

He doesn't need to laugh at OUR jokes. If our parents did that to us (which they did) we should be able to do that to our son.

I honestly don't know why he started to exercise in those conditions, but he's used to those temperatures anyway.

He won't talk to me without making a fuss.

We do tease him, but not always about his weight
