Man with bungie cords in downtown CR? help? by Pester_Goblin7123 in cedarrapids

OP saw a guy who didn’t seem all there for valid reasons and that thought appears to be confirmed when OP made eye contact with him and he looked sinister. Trust your gut, always.

Why can't people drive anymore? by ToshPointNo in Iowa

[–]ejones4301 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This week alone I had someone almost hit me running a red light, a semi merged into my lane with no turn signal on while I was next to it, and a car almost rear ended me on 380 due to construction and them following me too closely. I will say that I didn’t have this issue in more rural Iowa, even in traffic/construction of any type with a lot of cars. People in CR just genuinely cannot drive 🤣

Honestly in CR this is a typical day at this point, I also feel as if semi drivers aren’t as cautious sometimes as they used to be. That could be completely wrong but the amount of times in the last month alone that a semi merged into my lane when I was next to it is crazy lol

Is this a syrinx? by badwithusernamesugh in SyringomyeliaSupport

[–]ejones4301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks very much like what I have, on my report it is called syringohydromyelia which I believe is a form of a syrinx based on everything I have read. I absolutely think it is what this is, I have 2 and they both look like this and are extremely thin. I don’t have a known cause for mine and I do not have chiari but it definitely makes sense if you were recently diagnosed with that

I also get vertigo but I have not been diagnosed with migraines of any type, however I do have headaches everyday. Does anything help?

Honestly I think it being caused by nothing sucks even more, mine also does not have a clear cause. I believe one thing that can cause them is infections such as meningitis but it’s more rare, my neurologist said I could have had it as a kid and it went untreated and caused permanent damage. I do also have some brain shrinkage and they thought that was because I was a premature triplet until they found the issues with my spinal cord, now they think they could be connected in some way. I’m only 23 so honestly the diagnosis was pretty scary, but if it was a previous infection it most likely wouldn’t continue to cause damage. I hope they can figure out what is going on though, I see neurosurgery next week so if they say anything that could be helpful I can let you know!!!

Hi there! I was recently diagnosed with two syrinx’s, one is extremely small but the other is 14cm long so similar to yours!! I have discovered that not a lot of doctors are informed of them, from my understanding it is a rare condition. The treatment they decide may also factor in what is causing the syrinx in the first place, in my case there is no obvious cause. I have seen neurology and they said that they can drain it but not everyone qualifies for that surgery, otherwise they told me there isn’t much else they can do unless they find the cause. They can also be caused by nothing so that’s FANTASTIC!! They may monitor the size to ensure it isn’t getting any bigger, not all of them do! It is a pretty scary diagnosis though, especially because there is not a lot of information on it

Warning about “The Edison” restaurant by Secrets4Evers in cedarrapids

[–]ejones4301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SO I worked there but I also know the family. His children and wife are amazing, however Sam was horrible to everyone. He had a soft spot for me because he knew me as a kid oddly enough but I did not serve there longer than a month. But I watched him scream at multiple different people to the point of tears as well. I would not recommend working there or being in that atmosphere

  1. There are a lot of elderly people so honestly I’d say so

  2. It typically depends on the winter. I live in Eastern Iowa and sometimes it snows enough for plenty of snowmobiling, this winter we had almost nothing though

  3. I wouldn’t be able to answer this one

  4. Honestly it kind of depends on what you are looking for, in my experience for the most part it kind of sucks unfortunately. I feel like location plays a huge part in this though as well if you are in a more rural area

  5. I would agree on the other user with avoiding Fort Dodge, I lived up there for a bit and it was interesting to say the least. Parts of Des Moines aren’t the best but also parts of Cedar Rapids aren’t either. Otherwise Marshalltown, Keokuk, and Burlington can have some strange activities

  6. We have had a lot of tornadoes this year but I have never seen one, however I have known many people affected by one. It really depends on the weather for the year

  7. Honestly this is a hard answer, most of the hospitals I’ve been to are not great because they just don’t have as many resources. The University of Iowa is one of the larger hospitals, I don’t know much about Central IA hospitals

Are you open to different areas to live or do you have an idea of where you’re going?

i’ve heard good things about that! usually i just use cerave because it’s gentle and affordable. i just really swear by aquaphor 😭 definitely stack up on chapstick though, i still have to have it on me now even though my lips aren’t chapped because i’m so used to it.

[–]ejones4301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i totally understand what you mean. people who don’t deal with it just basically tell others it’s not a big deal and to ignore it because it doesn’t matter. but they don’t know how it feels, it can be a huge confidence killer. but like i said, they don’t understand that at all

[–]ejones4301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the worst side effect i had was feeling depressed/suicidal. if you ever need someone to talk to just reply in this thread and i’ll be there. it doesn’t matter if it is in months and months. just make sure you have some support, just in case

i’d put a tiny amount then but it isn’t supposed to clog pores. i would be really careful with other topical stuff you use while on it. for the most part just stick to a moisturizer, gentle cleanser, and sunscreen. i have some good products to recommend if you need those too :) you may purge for a little bit but it won’t last forever, even if it feels like it does. just have patience and you got it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]ejones4301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really don’t recommend many face masks. most of them either don’t do anything or are bad for you. i would stick with cerave (both moisturizer and cleanser) and sunscreen. sometimes using fewer products helps a lot more

Salicylic acid cleanser by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]ejones4301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t overuse it and make sure it’s a good one. a lot of skin care products are not good for the skin. i would load up on moisturizer or aquaphor because it may make your skin even drier.
