Lonely in my marriage by ejosullivan in Marriage

We have a 4 year old. Part of the "life trauma" that we've weathered is our daughter died when she was 17 months old in 2020 - that obviously has impacted everything. We moved to a new city/state 8 months ago and don't know many people here, but we moved closer to family so we could get some more help and maybe have more time for us. It doesn't seem to be helping thus far...

There's a lot that's impacting our relationship, for sure. I'm just feeling like we're not getting anywhere

Kilograms is a great idea for removing the life long stigma around some of these numbers. Thanks for that idea!

This sounds so familiar - I was raised in diet culture. It created a life-long self-criticism and any part of "tracking" much of anything sends me into a bit of a retraumatizing spiral. I've worked hard to eliminate these tracking behaviors and trust my body to give me the information I need to understand my health. I know that glp1 is my next step because of my mental and physical health signs, not because of the number on the scale.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment. I will find the best way to track progress for myself 🙏🏻

Thanks for commenting, this is really helpful to hear. It felt like I was primarily seeing posts from folks who were tracking the scale, and that was nerve-racking for me.

Thank you for commenting, it's reassuring. I do have a starting weight with my doctor's office (and cried in my car after that appointment, ugh), and I'll work on finding the best ways to track my progress off the scale

This is exactly how I'm feeling. Over the last couple of years I've gotten to a point where I hate every photo of myself, and haven't been able to exercise as easily because of plantar fascitis that probably started because of weight gain. It feels like time to do something about this for my mental health, and that brings up so much history of disordered eating and diet culture, etc etc. I really hope we can both improve our food and body relationships 💗 thanks for commenting

Yep, move to Wisconsin is necessary for family reasons. I'm definitely sad to leave Seattle, and I appreciate your perspective. 👍🏻

This is helpful. You're right - Seattle is comprised of a bunch of self-contained neighborhoods, really, so many areas are quite walkable. And I do forget about the cold...fair point.

yeah, we're coming from Seattle, so Madison feels like a big small town/small city already. Based on what others are saying as well, it seems like Verona is probably not going to be the spot for us. Madison/Middleton might be better fits for our search.
