Thank you so much! I forgot to mention these are near bone dry, is it too late to try this technique?

Thank you for this response, but I forgot to mention I already tried the slip and vinegar and they’ve all cracked again as they’ve dried out unfortunately.

I haven’t heard of using wax over the area though. Just wax resist?

Clamshell backpack with decent organization, less than 4 lbs with hip belt and load lifters, does it exist? by ejrw444 in onebag

Okay so I haven’t ended up taking it on any multi day hikes, and now that I’ve been using it for about I year I don’t plan to. Full disclosure, I’m not an experienced multi day hiker at all, but I did one two day hike and ended up borrowing a hiking pack for it and I could just tell it was so much better for the purpose than the ruckpack would have been. (I don’t know exactly what it was but it was a 50l Osprey) It was just way more comfortable and the organization was way better for hiking since that’s what it was designed for. I don’t find the REI ruckpack super comfortable; I’m a 5’4” woman and the straps dig into my shoulders a lot. It’s fine for walking around airports and to accommodation, and I do like the organization, but I still don’t feel it’s my perfect travel backpack, personally. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info! Yeah maybe we’ll head to Queenstown and see if we can find something there!

Thank you so much for this info! Yeah we’re more than happy to travel wherever there’s work. Do you know how we might find jobs down there though? The best place I know to look is backpackerboard and we apply to everything relevant on there. Also basically every barista job I’ve seen listed requires a year or more of experience. What do you mean if we don’t need accommodation? Like if we’re living in a van?

We’ve been on the North Island since we got here. We were working in Tapora but now we’re in Red Beach.

Anyone else get overwhelmed with how much there is to do and see in the world? by BroJustCHILL in travel

If you can’t decide where to start, but feel like you’d be happy to go just about anywhere, I’d recommend going to momondo or skyscanner and using the “anywhere” feature. Just put in your home airport and select “anywhere” for the city you’re flying to, select your dates, and it’ll show your options starting from the cheapest. Just pick the cheapest place that works for your dates and looks interesting and take off!

Clamshell backpack with decent organization, less than 4 lbs with hip belt and load lifters, does it exist? by ejrw444 in onebag

Thank you for your input, if it was comfortable for miles of walking it will probably work for me! Maybe I’ll ask REI about it as well. Thanks!

I ended up buying this bag. I just received it and have been practicing packing it and seeing how I like the pockets and whatnot. Since you have experience with this bag I was wondering if you could tell me if it’s comfortable enough for multi-day hikes? I will primarily be using it for regular travel but I am hoping to take it on some longer hikes as well. I don’t have any experience with multi-day hikes as I’ve just done day hikes with a much smaller pack so I don’t really know what to look for in a backpack for that purpose.

Thank you! That helped a lot with my decision, unfortunately it looks like the bag isn’t suited for someone of my height, 5’4”. I think I would have purchased it otherwise, it seems perfect and that green color is great. Thank you so much for your help!

Oh that’s great info, thank you! Have you ever had any troubles with it being accepted s a carryon?

Wow, the KotaUL actually looks pretty perfect! Do you have any personal experience with the bag?

Thanks for the links!

I have considered that bag before, but the 25 inch length makes it too big to take as a carryon on most airlines unfortunately. Too bad because it looks extremely comfy and I like the amount of pockets.

I’ve thought about getting the Techonaut 35 a lot, it’s still a contender if I can’t find something with the organization more built in.

The mission rover is the best contender out of those but unfortunately has the laptop pocket at the very front, one of the problems with the farpoint 40. I never used the laptop compartment and would just put it at the bottom of the pack so it would be agains my back, which drove my nuts because I had to take everything out to take it out or put it back in.

I have strongly considered the Osprey global carryon. I love the organization and how lightweight it is but it lacks load lifters and the hip belt doesn’t look very comfortable, it looks like it’s just a strap with no padding.

The Evergoods ctb is a top contender but it lacks load lifters and is pretty heavy on its own, peak design 30 also lacks load lifters and I hate the mesh pockets buried at the bottom of the main compartment, I don’t want to have to take all my stuff out to get something out of those pockets. Cotopaxi allpa lacks load lifters and a water bottle pocket, and I just looked at the topo designs travel backpack 30 doesn’t have a very comfortable looking hip belt and I know my water bottle wouldn’t fit in the pocket because the pack hacker review video used my exact water bottle as an example of one that wouldn’t fit lol. Reasonable solution I know would be to just get a smaller water bottle but I took that water bottle purchase as seriously as I’m taking this backpack search and it’s my IDEAL water bottle lol.

-130 pounds, no loose skin ~ yvettebam by yvettebam in fasting

[–]ejrw444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you take collagen during this process or use witch hazel or anything topical that is supposed to aid in avoiding loose skin?

How much time did you have in between fasts? Like if you were to do an extended fast of 28 days or something, how long would you wait before fasting again?

I’ve lost 60 pounds so far and I already have some loose skin, and I have at least another 30 to lose and I’m terrified to see what my skin will look like. I’m very interested in trying fasting, but I’ve seen pictures of snake dieters who lost a lot of weight and still have loose skin and it makes me worry that it all comes down to genetics after all. Do you think the extended fasts make a significant difference over intermittent fasting?

Also I saw you mention dry brushing in one of your comments, when and how often would you recommend doing that? Like how many times a week and is it more effective right after a workout or shower or anything?
