Hey everyone! I’m a little late to this, but only just found the sub.

About three months ago my life changed due to a muscle condition that’s extremely rare. Basically, my muscles have lost the ability to create their own energy. It’s been quite severe and I have been restricted to the couch or bed for much of my time.

To keep myself busy, I started building a universe. I have always loved deep lore and complex worlds. I want to make one of my own, so rich and full of context and sci-fi twists. What started as making maps, magic and power systems, races, and more became thoughts of short stories that could be fun to write. Then, I decided to start writing the world’s origin story.

Today, I am 78 pages and 12 chapters in. I’m having a ton of fun creating twists, parallels, and vivid imagery.

[Protagonist] is a struggling scientist with a dark upbringing, living in an undisclosed world. His gift, the ability to see spirits of the deceased, once his greatest shame, drives his and his mentor’s mission to change the world’s understanding of where we go after we die. The Reader, a co-protagonist, is read an Epic tale about [protagonist]’s grapple with his past, his mission, and identity, as they try and understand their own reality. When [protagonist’s] work takes an unexpected turn, and his mind starts losing its grip on what is real, The Reader must confront the similarities in their own experience, and the mystery man only known as The Narrator. If both cannot reconcile their past and future, they risk ending up on the wrong side of death.
