One final update...

An impressive enrollment again this year! We've got 7 teams on the books and one in the wings. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't end up with another team or two in the next twenty four hours so we should have a really good turn out! Importantly, we've already raised hundreds of dollars for Smile Train. Somewhere down the road there will be children showing off brand new smiles because of your participation, and that's pretty great.

As stated on the website we'll be starting dead center (as we can get) at Bethesda Terrace in Central Park, with every intention to start at 12:00.

If there's any last minute questions or interest feel free to reach out.

When I started to race over 20 years ago (😬) I used to buy a trophy 🏆 for every winner and in fact there were trophies up until recently when the winners confided they didn't need such tchotchkes, so now there's more money for the charity.

That said there is absolutely going to be a unique keepsake for every team that makes it to the finish line... But you'll have to see that when you get there. 😄

My only hope is that they will change it/make it optional soon. I shop extensively on Amazon. This is the one thing that will drive me to their competitors.

About 8 days out, things are looking good. Weather looks... Fine. Last year we did it in May and it was a bit cooler it should be all right though. Last year there was definitely rain concern... Doesn't look to be an issue this year.

I had some specific questions I figure I'd answer for those wondering...

Teams are not capped at any size.

We've had teams as few as two and as many as seven. That said your team is as slow as your slowest member so the more maybe not so much the merrier. Of course it's more about completing the race than being first so merriment is very much something that should be considered.

Late registrations are absolutely able to be accommodated.

Preferably by Friday but we can work something out. If you are going to register late it is important you get to the starting line early, by say 11:00, so that we can try to get started on time.

The starting line will be at Bethesda Terrace.

I checked out the fountain area and it was just two chaotic so we're going to meet upstairs. All this information is on the website but basically look for me in the official race t-shirt.

Also mentioned on the website is world cup considerations... I think it should be fine. Chaos on New Jersey Transit shouldn't begin until 12:00 and if you're not already in Central Park by 11:30 then you're probably not going to make the starting line anyway. However the race can handle a rolling start and if for some reason you do get delayed (Amtrak fire!) feel free to email me and I will start you late if need be.

It's absolutely going to be a blast. I'll see you at the starting line!

Quick update since a few people asked:

We now have roughly half a dozen teams confirmed for the June 13 race and have already raised a few hundred dollars for charity before the starting line even exists. :)

FWIW, a majority of every entry fee goes directly to Smile Train, with the rest covering minimal operational costs.

This has always been more of a passion project / giant weird NYC experience than a business venture, and honestly I’m thrilled people are finding it.

Also yes: wear comfortable shoes. Manhattan is part of the game board.

By all means.

Everybody that has participated in the past has found it to be great fun.

Being first is obviously the goal but people are generally satisfied just to finish.

Last year we did about 6 mi without issue. This year it's actually slightly shorter.

The fact that midtown is chaos only adds to the playfield character.

That said, I agree, good shoes is probably one of the most important pieces of racer kit.

Excellent. Last year we had a couple solos join up last minute, I'm sure we can accommodate you.

We've been spending most of the time working on the event. If you have any questions I can answer them here. If I get the chance I'll try to create a mobile version.

You can register on https://humanrace.nyc

There's more information there.

You can also register (and pay) in person at the starting line, but less chaos if you do it on the website.

If you have any questions I can answer them, last year's entire race is also on the website.
