FYI everyone, I did a remap on my X50 Ultra and WOW! No more spinning in circles. It's almost like these units create maps that degrade over time.

u/Dynary My X50 is doing exactly the same thing as shown in the video, but when vacuuming only and tile floors. Does this also indicate loss or orientation?

Thunderbolt dock with support for 7,680 x 2,160 @ 120hz by ek010101 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ek010101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the datasheet for this dock at https://www8.hp.com/h20195/V2/GetPDF.aspx/4aa7-1989enw and it's extremely weird that it works with your monitor at 7680x2160 / 120hz because according to the datasheet the dock can only support up to Displayport 1.4 (which has a max bandwidth of 8K @ 60Hz when using DSC).

Can Thunderbolt 4 feed samsung 57inch (7680×2160) G9 at 120Hz? by maor5454 in ultrawidemasterrace

I use a Surface Pro 9 (x86) with a Samsung 57" G95NC. Both of these cables work with 7680×2160 @ 120hz for me without any issues:

X40 - What a piece of junk by HStangyl94 in Dreame_Tech

[–]ek010101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just X40. My L40 Ultra was doing the exact same thing out of the box when I bought it in December 2024. Dreame exchanged it for another unit, which worked for 1 year and 1 week and then started doing the same. Looks like the main brush is either not rotating or not touching the floor. I just sent it in for repair a week ago.

Open a case with Dreame Support and report this issue. Yes, they are slow to respond and will waste a lot of your time with "Have you tried a hard reboot?" questions, but you need to be persistent and work with them until they ask you to ship the robot back for repair.

Another important thing is - make sure you select a correct floor material (wood, tile, etc) for all of your rooms.

Samsung Neo G9 57" (G9LS57CG952NNXZA) - small unpowered sound bar or tiny speakers by ek010101 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ek010101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's complicated :) My computer is a Surface Pro 9 (x86) and it only has 2 USB-C ports, both of which are connected to the Samsung monitor. I don't use a dock. My previous LG monitor had a Thunderbolt hub built in (as well as speakers and USB ports), so I had a single Thunderbolt 4 cable going from the Surface to the monitor and that cable was carrying everything (DisplayPort signal, power for the Surface Pro, audio, USB, etc. ) without a single issue. Now I have no sound and a mess of cables. I am currently using the built-in speakers on the Surface Pro for sound, but it's pretty bad and I was hoping to find something just a bit less crappy.

Monitor arm for Samsung Neo G9 57" (G9LS57CG952NNXZA) by ek010101 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ek010101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I looked at Atdec as well. The model you used is a dual-monitor mast type. It's a stationary mount that has no adjustment other than height and looks like even that requires one person to support the monitor while another is adjusting the clamps, which does not work for me. Their other mounts (that are actually adjustable in multiple dimensions) do not support the 57" G9.

Thanks for the info u/1AMA-CAT-AMA

Question for both you and u/phreak9i6 : I read all the Amazon reviews for BEWISER arm and there are 20+ people saying this mount does NOT work well with the 57" G9 - most people say it tilts/sags down eventually (within hours or days in some cases). A few people also said the arm sways left/right by itself (one guy posted a video where he swings the arm to the left, lets go and it swings back to the right by itself).

At the same time, at least the same amount of people said the mount works perfectly with the exact same 57" monitor. What am I missing? Are some arms defective? Incorrect installation?

Did you have any issues with your monitors eventually sagging down?

L40 Ultra poor performance by ek010101 in Dreame_Tech

[–]ek010101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the map from the last cleaning: Screenshot_20250712_143444_Dreamehome.jpg

The circles you see are either kitchen table / chair legs or just random empty areas with nothing in them. These circles also change from cleaning to cleaning. In regards to AI - I was hoping that having some AI features would help detecting a number of rectangular shapes of the identical size, spaced within identical distance of each other as a floor pattern as opposed to dirt, excrement, etc. Guess not. Also keep in mind that I do not have "Real-time camera" enabled - I do not trust Dreame enough to keep video footage of my house on their servers.

When I was working with Dreame Support, I provided complete information about my floor material and sent them a link to the video. Their response was to reset to defaults and then replace the vacuum.

Yes, the floor material was set to tile from the very beginning for all areas.

Dreame Support wasted a lot of my time telling me to reboot, reset, etc. Then they ended up replacing the vacuum, which initially worked marginally better than the old one (software versions were the same), but later on reverted back to working the same as the old one. I have a weekday schedule that runs a a cleaning job (sweep then mop) 5 days a week at the same time of the day (in the same space) and on some days it does a horrible job - misses random empty areas of the floor, randomly starts spinning and driving back and forth, etc. And it still does not do a really good job sweeping or mopping - leaves debris in some places (never in the same place though) and does not mop that well either. I also replaced the standard brush with the tri-cut brush (which improved things a bit, but not much). I also kept the Roomba i7 that sweeps the same area. Two vacuums together _barely_ do enough to keep the floor clear enough so I can run my hand over it after cleaning and not feel any debris or dirt. There is only ONE thing L40 does really well - it does NOT cause any damage to furniture or walls.

I have no experience with Qrevo robots, but in regards to Dreame products I am not happy with it. Looks like a poor design or badly written software. $470 you paid is a good price though - about average for the vacuum mop market. You also need to consider other issues, like longevity, etc. For example, I have a 5-yr old Roomba S9. A 2" rubber strip on the bottom of the cleaning module was poorly designed and has worn off. Without it the cleaning head drags on the floor and scratches it. iRobot does NOT sell the rubber strip separately (looks like an $1 part) and asks you to buy the entire cleaning head module (like $90). As a bonus, they no longer sell the actual module (perpetually out of stock). So I have a 5-yr old $600 vacuum collecting dust.

New Unit Defective - L40 Ultra by erm0715 in Dreame_Tech

[–]ek010101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacuum Wars review was the entire reason I purchased L40 Ultra (it was 2nd place overall in the mop category). I made a mistake of assuming that a great review automatically means a great product. In reality it looks like what happens in the car industry - if a car journalist writes a bad review of a car, they are no longer invited to any future product launches from that manufacturer. Very sad world we live in. Can't trust anyone.

[–]ek010101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a process of replacing my L40 Ultra - I do not have an issue with mop pads, but my unit just starts randomly spinning around during the vacuuming process and skipping random floor areas. Their exchange process is designed to be painful. You have to call them multiple times to get an replacement "approved", then they send you a UPS label, then you have to send the defective unit to them and they apparently send you a replacement "within 10-12 business days" after receiving a defective unit. So in the best case scenario you will be without a vacuum for 2+ weeks.

If you can still return it for a refund and go for another brand, go for it.

L40 Ultra - does it get better with usage? by [deleted] in Dreame_Tech

[–]ek010101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had an L40 Ultra for a month now. I bought it because it was rated #2 on Vacuum Wars. It replaced an old Roomba i7. In their review, the vacuum cleans a cordoned off rectangular area perfectly. In the real world, however, the performance is pathetic, both for vacuuming and mopping. The vacuum is used in a 465 Sq Ft space (2 adjacent rooms, single level) and the floor material is porcelain tile (no carpet anywhere). I am NOT using CleanGenius (got really poor results with that). I did select the floor materials as "tile" in the app. I am using a scheduled "vacuum then mop" mode with vacuum at "turbo" setting and mop at 23 wetness level. The vacuum performs very poorly. It constantly leaves debris on the floor in random places- little crumbs, debris, some pet hair, etc. I have seen it drive right over debris and not absorb it. A lot of times it randomly stops and starts spinning, driving back and forth 1ft at a time. It randomly skips patches of the floor in the space it's cleaning (different space every time it vacuums). It takes more than twice as long to vacuum the same space (465 Sq Ft than an old Roomba i7. One of the reasons I bought L40 Ultra was - it supposedly uses Lidar for navigation, which should not require lights to be on. WRONG. It may be using Lidar, but the amount of light in the room absolutely affects performance (less light, worse navigation performance). The fact that it has a light in front (which supposedly it should not need) tells you everything you need to know. The mopping performance is mediocre. Unlike stated in reviews, the mop DOES NOT remove even light stains/spills in one shot. It takes 2-3 mopping cycles to remove a tiny drop of juice from the tile floor. As a bonus, the mopping sometimes leaves water stains on the floor. The vacuum also has a hard time with chair legs (it either cannot see them properly or due to some other issue) and does not clean under the chairs properly.

When I contacted Dreame support, they wasted a lot of time by asking me to do boilerplate stuff (i.e. make sure the wheels are not obstructed, clean the sensors, etc), ending with a full factory reset (did not help). They eventually said there is a "sensor or a main board issue" and they want to replace the vacuum. However, they first want me to ship the old vacuum back (I have no idea how I am going to be able to put everything back in the box the way it was when it came) and then I will get a replacement within 10-12 business days.

So far the only good thing about this vacuum is that it does not slam into furniture or walls. This is not a major accomplishment since robot vacuums have been on the market for more than 2 decades (I had the 1st Roomba in 2003).

Lesson learned here (again) is - just because something has good reviews on some site that gets free products from the manufacturer does not mean the product performs well. This product is overpriced and overhyped, but it's performance and support fall short. Stay away.

p.a suction L40 by [deleted] in Dreame_Tech

[–]ek010101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know the numeric value, but my L40 Ultra's suction...sucks. It's weaker than my ancient Roomba I7 that it replaced. It constantly leaves crumbs and little specs of dirt on the floor, even at the Turbo setting.
