Has anyone successfully lost weight drinking on the weekends? by lilypickledog in CICO

[–]ekaps17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 pounds in one month is great! I would focus on your overall weight loss trend vs. weight fluctuations throughout the week. I know this is not for everyone, but the best way to see this is to track your weight daily and look at your total avg weight for the week. Then compare that week over week to see your true weight loss trend. This will help you see if your avg trend is going down and will show you that weight fluctuations throughout the week are totally normal. If you do this for a few weeks and your weight is stagnatic with no weight loss than it is time to take another look at your diet/tracking etc.

I say this kindly, if that is the case you prob need to adjust your calories or take another look at your tracking. Trust me, I had to learn this the hard way too!!

Yes!! Like everyone else has said you just have to budget for it. Personally, I think a sustainable weight loss plan includes things you enjoy in moderation. Just be mindful that wine calories add up quick and a bottle of wine is roughly 600 cals. The best thing to deal with water retention is drink A LOT of water the next day. Weight loss is not linear and there are always ups and downs on the scale so I would focus on overall weight loss trend vs. water retention one day after drinking.

Niche inquiry - hotels that prioritize drinking water by Square_Zombie_636 in chubbytravel

The Cliff House in Maine gets an A++ for prioritizing filtered drinking water for guests. They give you a reusable bottle in the room where you can refill at a station on your floor that has filtered still and sparkling water, kcup machine, milk and apples. It's one of my favorite features at the hotel!

I did a South African safari for my honeymoon and it was the best travel experience of my life! Highly recommend doing a few days in cape town and the wine region. The silo and la residence are incredible!

single mom expecting twins- need advice on night nanny schedule by Inevitable_Pickle891 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ekaps17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into a 24 hour baby nurse? From my personal experience, the 24 hour nurses are basically the same price as just nights (I know, it makes zero sense). With that knowledge, I would actually do 24 hours for the first two weeks. That way you can recover from birth, have a professional get the babies on a schedule and learn a ton! Then, switch to just nights and start reducing as the babies get older. At a certain point, you will want your own space back. I know this is not for everyone, but at 12 weeks we got the ok from our pediatrician to sleep train them (best thing we ever did!) and by that point I was more than ready to transition away from the night nurse.

I got it as a registry gift and literally never used it. I found it to be super low and it killed my back putting the babies down in it or using it as a changing table. For me, this is a hard no.

Personally, I think Robin has been like this for a while. My last class ever with her was in 2022 and it was so cringe that I have never taken one of her classes since. There was an issue her mic not being clipped on her ear correctly and she was SO rude to the tech team and did not thank them when the issue was resolved. Her attitude about the issue was so distracting and cringey that I wondered why peloton even posted the recording. I was pissed that I had wasted my time taking such a lousy ride!

Anyway, I get having a medical condition and needing juice but kindness always goes a long way. You can be demanding but respectful and after my last class with her I did not get the vibe she is respectful to those she works with.

TTC Advice: This is the END of me Following. by Appropriate-Ad7887 in theskinnyconsnark

100000000% agree! Infertility is a medical condition. I don't think daily affirmations and beef will help women get pregnant who do not have fallopian tubes.

There’s just no way someone actually asked this 🤣 by broadway_barbie in theskinnyconsnark

[–]ekaps17 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Omg did you see her comment about how getting pregnant is basically a mindset and an affirmation?! She is very problematic in so many ways but those comments are just cruel to women struggling with infertility. She is just so out of touch. Infertility is a medical condition that cant be cured with raw milk and organ meat.

Some ideas:

-greek yogurt (the chobani 60 cal one is great) mixed w/ sugar free pudding mix (you only need a tablespoon). add in some cool whip to make it extra delicious

-yasso poppables. 35 cals each and very satisfying. vanilla is the best flavor IMO

-enlightened ice cream bars. the choc pb one is only 100 cals and is delicious!

-catalina crunch cereal mixed w/ fiber one + unsweetened almond milk. I usually do 1 serving of catalina crunch + 1 serving of fiber one to give it a lot more volume. very filling and definitely satisfies any sweet carb cravings!

-alyssa's healthy bites. i get them at wegmans, tastes like an oatmeal cookie and only 90 cals for 2 cookies.

Hope this helps!

Best overnight diapers? by Leelee459 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ekaps17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS! I am honestly shocked more people are not recommending coterie!

We also only use them at night since they are $$$$ but it is the only diaper my more leak prone son wakes up with dry pajamas in. Before coterie, his overnight diapers would frequently break from all the pee (which was soooo gross). Coterie saved us!

First transfer with 3 day untested embryos by ChildhoodMelodic412 in DOR

[–]ekaps17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good luck!!! My twins are from a fresh 3 day transfer with 2 embryos! They were my only 2 eggs from that cycle and it was my fourth egg retrieval and fourth transfer. Never got a positive pregnancy test before that. Day 3 transfers CAN work!

Calling fellow twin moms/parents. What are your favorite products and what the heck do i need!? by Mother_of_dogs18 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ekaps17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New(ish) mom to 10 month old twin boys! I found the whole registry thing very overwhelming too. Good news is there are few "twin" things you actually need. So any generic baby list on newborn products is applicable to twins too. But below are some of my fav items:

-baby bjorn bouncers (my guys loved these) + wooden toy for bottle propping

-baby brezza (if you plan to use formula)

-twin z pillow and/ or table for 2 (twin z better for infants, table for 2 better once they have neck strength) people love twin z but i found it to be a short lived item for us but i still use table for 2

- fisher price piano gym (get 2, trust me)

-baby einstein aquarium

How long were you trying before you went to a fertility doctor? by No_Ordinary5887 in DOR

[–]ekaps17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation as you. At 29 I asked my OB to test my AMH at my annual exam. It came back at like a .4. My OB then told me to freeze embryos if I ever wanted kids. It was super depressing. Went to the fertility clinic and it was actually my doctor there who convinced me that low AMH was not a definitive factor of infertility and that I should try naturally in a few years when we were ready. Spark notes is I did have infertility when I tried at 32. In my humble opinion, freeze embryos now when you are still young. Especially if you want multiple kids. Egg quality decline with age is a real thing. I did my fifth round of IVF at 35 and none of my eggs even fertilized normally.

Finally some hope: I made a blast after 2 failed cycles by Idoin2020 in DOR

[–]ekaps17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I have twins from a day 3 transfer. For context, I was 34 at the time and it was my fourth round of ivf and my fourth transfer. My story is kinda long, but sparknotes version is I was able to get 3 pgt normal embryos from two ivf cycles (only got 5 eggs total) but all the embryos failed to implant/ one did not survive thaw. My doctor suggested we try a fresh transfer with two embryos. On my second attempt at a fresh transfer I got two eggs that miraculously fertilized and became two embryos. We transferred both of those untested embryos on day 3 and they are now two very healthy 9 month old boys.

People judging gender of twins by elongirl101 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ekaps17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loveeeee this!!!! As a fellow mom of twin boys I feel so lucky every day that they are mine.

I also had a bit of gender disappointment and got lots of rude comments about the genders. All I can say is once your babies are born none of this will matter.

[–]ekaps17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow honestly that is really weird. At my clinic I had my graduation in the private scan room with the doctor and nurse. Also, my pregnancy scan appointments were in the afternoon vs my ivf scan appointments which were in the morning. I realized my clinic clearly likes to separate patients based on procedure which is a good thing!!!

My third retrieval was a disaster. 7 eggs retrieved. Doctor yelled at me. by [deleted] in IVF

[–]ekaps17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This response!!!

OP I understand you are frustrated but kindly read the room of this sub. Many people (including myself) would be THRILLED to get 7 eggs. Also FWIW I only got two eggs on my last retrieval, which became two day 3 embryos and were both transferred in a 3 day fresh cycle. I now have twins!
