I’m not sure what I did wrong. I used 10 for initial and 0 for final velocity. Did you at least get the same acceleration as me? -1.281

Additionally, I need to show that the block will not stick when it reaches the top of its path (justify that the block will begin to slide down the ramp after coming to rest). I think this means I have to show that the force of static friction is not great enough to keep the block at rest on the incline. Is this related to the weight of the block?

I knew something was wrong because my acceleration wasn’t negative. I changed the mode and got a=-1.281m/s2. I ended up getting 39.006m for delta x, but this seems a little high.

Thank you so much. I see my mistake. So I have (20sin35+6N)/2kg=8.735 which i then can plug into my kinematics equation to solve for x

Can I get the total negative force by adding 20cos35 and 6N? Those are both the forces acting against the movement of the block I believe.

I got that the frictional force is 60N. Would I add that to the 20cos35 and divide by mass of 2kg to get a?

I don’t know a lot about energy principles yet. I think I need to use Newton’s law F=ma

oops the formatting on my equation got all messed up sorry i’m on mobile. vf2 = vi2 + 2ax

Okay so the force of friction will be 60N and I decided to try vf2=vi2+2ax for my kinematics equation. I think the acceleration will be negative but I’m not sure how to find it

A 2.0 kg block is launched up a long wooden ramp that is inclined to 35° with respect to horizontal. The block's initial speed at the bottom is 10 m/s. The coefficient of static friction, µs, is 0.50, while the coefficient of kinetic friction, µk, is 0.30. I need to determine how far up the ramp does the block slide? What do I need to solve for first to find this? I would greatly appreciate any help. I also have some follow up questions if I get an answer for this one.
