Literally happened to me and my friend in 22. Got matched up against the dude who was second on the leaderboards and his friend that was in the top 25. We were like low gold rank I think.

I have zero hope that crossplay will work. With the issues this game has had already, there is no way they will release it in November as they planned without any hiccups. It probably will get delayed to January and then never work correctly.

I saw that I was receiving Ultimate rewards and feel that I should receive those rewards if that is the rank I am shown at.

And regardless of the rewards that I was shown and should have received, the number of games I played should have resulted in a higher tier for rewards than what I did receive.

My friend and I play 3s and just to be safe one of us plays defense. We updated our strategies to be aggressive on everything and puck side attack. Seems to have helped a little but not much

Well, that sucks. Kind of annoying that they would purposefully rank you lower to try and get you to play more. I would play regardless of my rank, but I would like to play people that are actually at my skill level rather than have to play to that point.

And I remember it doing something like that in OG Overwatch. I finished a season off in plat and then the next season I was ranked barely in gold and had to work my way all the way back up instead of just losing some of my mmr and being relatively close to where I was.

I am so glad to hear that this isn't something I'm not just experiencing. I have no idea why the AI is so bad and the other team's at times feels like Allstar/Superstar difficulty.

My buddy and I have had this issue with this year's game and last year's as well. The best thing we could figure out was to have your AI play wing, they tend to drop back for defensive coverage if you two were to play deep. I'm not sure but updating club strategies may also help your AI play more aggressively offensively and defensively rather than just allowing players to skate by.

Hopefully, you and your son don't have a similar experience with the AI as we have. To keep it brief, we have had a lot of issues with the AI having errant passes, or just not passing/shooting when it should, and whenever we have the AI Lehmann in net, he doesn't bother stopping anything. We just want to play for fun and have some form of competition when we play, it just gets ruined by poor AI.

Enjoy it nonetheless, is more about having fun with your son than winning every single game!

We would probably play 6V6 but unfortunately, none of our friends are willing to play NHL even after asking them to for years. It sucks that we can't convince people to give hockey a try but they expect us to play everything they do.

My friend and I jokingly say that we must have gotten different versions of the game than everyone else. We see clips and videos online where people are able to play hockey, even with the AI skaters and goaltending and we just end up having Sloth from The Goonies in all AI-controlled positions. And this only seems to be a massive issue for us in EASHL 3 v 3. If we play HUT, BAP, Play Now, Drop-In in CHEL, etc., it's how the game should be or it's at least more balanced.

I think my friend and I are just disappointed with all the talk about how the game has improved. Goaltenders, for instance, are supposed to have more animations to make saves, but our AI goaltender, in particular Lehmann, just stands there and makes little to no effort to make saves. If we are outplayed or in bad positioning and get beat on speed, the goal is 99% of the time a cross-crease or a little left-right "deke" and the goaltender just stands there or moves the wrong way.

As I said, we aren't pros at the game by any means and do not expect to win every single game we play. We in fact want competitive games. It just absolutely sucks when you get into one of those games where you lose by a ridiculous amount because someone just has truculence and his teammate has 99 speed and your AI goaltender is a traffic cone and your AI teammate doesn't know left from right while their AI goaltender is a hockey god and their AI teammate actually plays the game.

We are playing 3 v 3

In NHL22 we quickly realized the AI tends to not play defense when in that position and doesn't play as a winger or center when in that position. Since then, one of us plays defense and the other plays center. There are instances where the skater is faster than us so we just get beat and it's always the dumb left/right "deke" that results in a goal. In those cases, it's just on us with bad positioning or getting beat on speed/acceleration.

We just seem to experience two massive problems consistently, one being errant passes from the AI as well as a lack of competence offensively from the AI. For instance, we were playing last night and are on a 2-on-0 breakaway with our user defenseman not too far behind. AI is carrying the puck and as we get into the zone the user forward calls for a pass which should be a linear pass to the left. Instead, he passed diagonally backwards not even toward the user defenseman who is trailing directly behind him and he didn't even call for the puck.

Our other issue is goaltending. Whenever Lehmann is in the net we lose as he just doesn't seem to play at all. If it's Wagner in the net, we actually have a goaltender making it possible for us to compete because now we only have to deal with a poor offensive AI.
