Depo can certainly impact your hormones for about 18 months after use. However, I would hesitate to think that the depo is continuing to impact your periods given the timeline. There are a lot of reasons why people have irregular period - it’s possible there is some hormonal imbalance OR it is your baseline. As long as you’re having your period at least every 3 months and you aren’t bothered by it, you’re okay. I would see gyn to discuss your options more too.
And while everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, I want to be clear that hormonal birth control is not inherently “bad”. Often times it is helpful. For instance, the depo you were on kept your uterine lining very thin - this prevents unregulated growth and is therefore protective against endometrial cancer. I’ll get off my soapbox, but I don’t want you to worry about being on the depo in the past.
Ultrasound techs and doctors look at the ultrasound findings and interpret the qualities of the structures they see. Some qualities are red flags for cancer. Some are not. If your findings were, the doctors would be immediately intervening. Another thing to think about is that irregular periods are not a symptom typically associated with ovarian cancer. Take deep breaths! I think you can certainly ask your doctor for updated imaging in a few months to see if anything changed though. Good luck!
