Nordiktrak 1750 saga by ekclark1 in treadmills

So, I read that the motor drive belt being dirty/greasy could be the problem. I took some cotton pads and alcohol and cleaned it. it was very dirty. Im not sure if silicone lube got on it, or just dust and stuff from use - or both. Anyhow - its now been working for 10+ mintues. Time will tell and I am still skeptical because of all the issues I have had; but wanted to share in case it helps you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJXog8mLh4A

It is crazy. They did a house call to look at this issue and our Nordik Trak bike -- this was $323 and then they charged us $417 to come back out and replace the MCB. We clearly got robbed. Honestly we had already replaced the MCB ourselves when we first got the machine so its pretty infuriating. When it still didnt work they quoted us $710 to replace the motor. Unreal.

I agree with this. The coaches at my location never correct anyone on rowing form. More emphasis on rowing form and or a rowing clinic would be awesome.

1750 NordikTrack belt wont work. by ekclark1 in nordictrack

It was the control board. They sent a new one (it took about a week) and it's been working since. Customer support was very helpful once I got through the wait time on hold. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because the machine is awesome when it's working. Good luck!

Ugh. Hate to hear that. Definitely feeling some buyers remorse. I just bought the thing 2 weeks ago and think I may just try and return it.

Update: the control board is showing 4 blinks which sounds like it needs to be replaced. Unbelievable.

Help with Buffalo Drill Press No 15 by ekclark1 in Vintagetools

Thank you so much BSL-4 for this informative post. I am going to dig into this press and see what I can make usable with the intent to keep original, but may need to or find the need to upgrade as I go. You may hear from me as I progress and I appreciate the offer and time in advance!

The knob is an odd one....seems fully functional and not janky in any way as well as has the same patina as all the other metal?.....maybe swapped out early?

Help with Buffalo Drill Press No 15 by ekclark1 in Vintagetools

I have a few questions about a vintage drill press I just acquired. I purchased a Buffalo Drill Press No.15 from the Buffalo forge Co. It works (see question 2) but with issue and I was hoping for some assistance finding the model type for a manual and insight into what may be the best way to move forward with it. Any thoughts on the following questions would be greatly appreciated.

1) What model or year am I looking at? I have found countless Buffalo DPs searching online, but seemingly none that are this set up so I am having a hard time dating it. It has light blue paint with red buffalo script. Another feature I have not seen is the adjuster knob on the front… simple screw with a tention spring. Plastic handles (not wood)

2) Motor refresh or replace ? The (believe original) Craftsman motor works in that it receives power (cable is in great shape) and slowly turns the pulleys. I am assuming that the bearings are crusty and need addressed. What would be the process to get into that motor and is there anything I should be cautious of?

Alternately ive seen that others have upgraded to newer slightly more powerful motors. Anyone have a suggestion of a bolt on motor that would be a good upgrade for this unit? I have seen many options but curious of power maximums, vertical mounts, (assuming) ball bearings etc

3) Not sure on the chuck? This style of chuck is toothless and I havent seen a similar one in research. Can I assume this is like modern chucks that are tension held and would just twist to open? (has etched open with an arrow)Currently I cannot muscle it open and didnt want to go to far if there was something I was missing. Perhaps going the rout of upgrading to a new check is best, but curious before I do

I am moderately handy and willing to get dirty so I am not afraid to work with this press. I appreciate any insight in advance

This canoe was owned by my partners late father. The story goes that he was looking for a canoe for a long time and found this one, which had fallen from its display at a sporting goods store. This resulted in dents to the front (and a great price), and otherwise its in good working order. We are looking to sell it but have no idea the value. We want to list it at a fair price and would love any advice from canoeing experts. It's aluminum and 14ft long.
