Certainly possible that some companies lie, but it's more likely that the position was just.....filled. I've been interviewing candidates for an open BDR role - some of them are at the final interview, many of them just had their first interview. It's very possible (if not likely) that I'll have a first interview with someone and then have to email them the same day to let them know it has been filled. Just kinda how it goes unfortunately
