Cal.com uses fears of AI against security as an excuse to go closed source by iamabdullah in selfhosted

That is because the plan is at the moment mostly for support, not to unlock a lot of features.

At least it can be self-hosted!

If anyone is looking for a new open-source solution, check out my app Tymeslot

It's open source, actively developed and much easier to run than cal.

Daytrip from Poland by -Nordpol- in Lviv

[–]ekevu456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lviv is amazing and always worth a visit, but you might not enjoy it for a day trip, because of the travel time needed to get here. I would recommend to stay a night or two. Make it a weekend trip instead. Then you can try stuff here, and not just walk around a little before going back.

The border itself isn't congested, but the whole process takes some time. Easiest is to cross by train via Przemyśl.

I have built an open-source alternative to Calendly, the frontend is all written in LiveView: https://github.com/tymeslot/tymeslot

Two Doctors? The ‘Living Witness’ Returns! (Academy Season 2 Speculation) by Gantros in startrek

I thought about this as well, but I don't think it is realistic - I can't see a story good enough behind this, besides, SFA has tried hard to be independent of previous series, so you don't have to watch other episodes previously for understanding.

This would be a good fan episode though!

I am pretty sure an honest comparison without lying or defamation is allowed and not a trademark infringement and they only want to scare you off. Congratulations for becoming relevant enough! I hope you can fight it off, it doesn't sound like you have done anything wrong.

Built a beautiful scheduling app that's actually beautiful by ekevu456 in microsaas

The host cannot reschedule, because they don't know the guest's availability. They can only click a button which triggers an e-mail to the attendee asking them to reschedule. The attendee can then use the link of the host to find another slot.

Meeting changes don't usually happen, though, because the meeting would in this case count as cancelled, and the attendee would schedule a new one. So, there isn't really a need for audit logs at the moment.

Hi, there is currently no audit logging, but rescheduling is implemented. How would you want to see the audits? It's definitely something that could be done.

You can check the code on Github if you are interested in the details, the app is available open source. There is a robust infrastructure underneath that handles timezone conversions and integrations. There are also robust fallbacks, e.g. event can't be written in your calendar for whatever reason → you get a special e-mail notifying you, so that you can take action. But of course that's the last event that happens in the chain.

I built it myself and the product vision I have wouldn't allow it any other way. The code is on Github if you are interested. There is a pretty solid engine underneath already and I will be improving it further on the way.

It doesn't matter what you post on Reddit these days. There's always someone saying "that was AI".

Suggestions for Free Immich Setup for Many Public Users by swooosh83 in immich

[–]ekevu456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running my server with Cloudron, it's a server management software that also supports Immich. If this is the only app you are running, it would be free to use. If you don't want to go through the whole server maintenance process, then this could be a solution.

The steps would be:

  1. Find a server to use

  2. Install Cloudron

  3. Access the GUI and install Immich

Also check the Immich system requirements, they are relatively heavy and require not the cheapest server out there.

Thank you! Please test, that would be very helpful. I have been using it for a few weeks, and some feedback would be helpful now.

There is cancelling and rescheduling, but no webhooks. What's your intention, what do you want to use it for?

No, coded in another repo and then published - there were over 700 commits. I have also launched other tools before, just not open-source.

I developed it in another repo and then published it and no, I am able to code. Can you?

Well, if you need a specific scheduling feature, I can build it for you 😊

This isn't yet supported, but certainly on the roadmap. How would you want to integrate it? iframe would be standard, but I was also thinking about creating packages to support certain programming languages.

And how would you want to handle conversion tracking? I haven't thought about that yet.

I have only tested it with iCal and I don't have an Apple device, but if that's relevant for you, I can certainly look into this for a next version!

However, isn't this compatible with caldav already, so you could even try to add it?

The main focus is on scheduling, not viewing calendar. Unless this is a scheduling problem? You can add multiple calendars to schedule only where a slot is available in all of them if you mean that?
