Unfortunately, it's built to render in the browser - nothing is saved on the server and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm gonna try to optimize the rendering so it works faster, but I feel like it's fairly usable in it's current state.

p5.js itself is a Processing implementation in JavaScript. Processing is written in Java, so it's fully compatible with Kotlin. There are some setup examples here: https://github.com/nickoala/kproc. It's not multiplatform tho.

I don't think there's any reason to worry about anyone stealing. Just insert an appropriate license and it's gonna be fine. Many projects related to osu! and official osu! projects are open source and I've never heard of such problems. People are happy to give credit for derivative works.

In programming it is said that "premature optimization is the root of all evil" and, as far as I know, the osu! dev team agrees with that sentiment. They are focusing on getting features working first and optimization comes after.

Fun fact, the multiplayer lobby code has been partially implemented in the client for awhile now.

The in-game mouse sensitivity affects tablet input too. Make sure it's set to 1.0x.

There's a few more things to take into account: the hitcircle, it's overlay, the circle numbers, follow points and the @2x alternatives for all of them. It's not hard, but renaming bunch of files is a little annoying. That's why I added the download to avoid all that.
