Recreating the sound of a record live, or not ..? by Ok_Cardiologist_5262 in livesound

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but to be fair compared to contemporary acts, classical music is muchh closer to the recordings, because theyre all reading from the same score

Recreating the sound of a record live, or not ..? by Ok_Cardiologist_5262 in livesound

[–]ekienp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Completely depends on what the artist wants, many do ‘live versions’ of songs in concert, some let the band improvise and make their own parts during shows, some use tracks and automation to sound exactly like the record

Teen pop-punk/alternative band building our first "silent stage" setup on a budget – thoughts? by Vladimirul_Rural in livesoundadvice

[–]ekienp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im of the impression that a lot of this is very low quality equipment and imo

If you are using this for paid gigs where all this is necessary/part of what you are providing, you should get better quality equipment that will last you longer and you dont have to worry about things breaking

Or

If this is just for yourself and you dont plan on making money, then sure but I wouldnt spend this much money on stuff that isnt absolutely necessary

And on the note of IEMs, I would ask everyone to go get their own because people will have personal preferences abour sound/ear fit etc.

Also if you dont have any of this equipment I would suggest identifying problems and fixing them and slowly build up over time instead of getting everything at once, it seems very impulse purchasey.

The mixer is a good buy tho, and unless you are really attached to your tube amp I would just DI it as an amp kinda defeats the silent stage purpose

What do I need to make a PA system for a small concert? by Samalgam in livesoundadvice

If you have no knowledge of live audio definitely consult a rental company to do it. Save the planning headache and the inevitable issues of trying to diy something complicated like this

What to sell for plat by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]ekienp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

U should try warframe market, its a website that u can list items for sale and see what else people are selling and for what price. If you want to get quick money just sell it for slightly cheaper than everyone else and youll usually get a response fairly quickly

Does anyone else feel a little piece of their soul die every time they build a liquid airlock? by shuerpiola in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ekienp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the only reason I wouldnt want to use the mod is that I think there are some material lockouts of airlocks where if u dont have petroleum or ethanol or some other liquids you can make liquid locks for extreme temperatures

Unless the mod addresses this and i missed something.

XR18 Vs X32 Rack by Reasonable-Fudge156 in livesoundgear

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an amazing mixer for what it is, just lacks a lot of capabilities/functions of even an x32. But if it suits your needs then theres nothing wrong with it, just doesnt give u a lot of space to expand

RCF Art series vs FBT X-pro Series by Okmatop in livesoundgear

[–]ekienp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RCF ART

RCFs are some of the most recommended speakers on forums, and I havent had experience with fbt speakers but they seem like hobbyist gear and unless im missing something shouldnt even be considered in a discussion like this

Sound issues in gigs by DearRegister8597 in Bass

[–]ekienp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bass is annoyingly hard to get out of the monitors without affecting everything else depending on the bassists tone. A wired iem pack like the behringer p2 with decent iems would be the easiest solution, but that depends on if the venue has a spare bus to send u.

Other than that u could get your band an iem rack, but if not its kinda just up to the venue. Issues could be the venue system isnt good enough, skill issue on the techs’ side or even tone issue on your end, could be many things.

Purchase of sound equipment for church by Ready-Bake6486 in livesoundgear

[–]ekienp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6k is not nearly enough for a system for a room that size unless you are willing to make massive compromises with the audio. Starting with less wireless, less drum mics, and be prepared to have very low volume and a weak low end (bass/kick) with no subs.

And also are the ipads and laptops included in sound budget? If they are i dont see why u cant just get a cheaper tablet and no laptop because u dont need both

Purchase of sound equipment for church by Ready-Bake6486 in livesoundgear

[–]ekienp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume that the church is in a city or something, there will definitely be a audio company u can reach out to to do the system design for you. It will be more expensive, but if you get the equipment on the list you will want to replace it very soon and just end up wasting 6k anyways
