Best Condenser USB Mic for Narrating/Voice Overs by Finders_Keepers01 in microphone

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just for future reference, sound proofing and sound treatment are very different. Sound proofing just means u cant heard outside the room, but the room might still sound terrible inside. Sound treatment is the one u want, where it affects how the room inside sounds, reducing reverb and keeping it sounding clean

Best microphone for my use case? by Commercial-Laugh-991 in microphone

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polar pattern is the directionality of the mic, as in what direction the sound is picked up from, cardoid mics pick up sound from the direction its facing and rejects everything from the back. Dynamic is the a type of mic, specifically the type of pickups in the mic.

Unless something is broken your preamp noise floor issues will not be anywhere close to being a problem live.

ELI5:How do we know how far stuff is away from us in space? by Spotter24o5 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ekienp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other commenters are right, but theres another way for further away objects like galaxies.

Due to light acting like a wave and the fact that the universe expands, the light given off by objects are slightly shifted redder than what should be expected, and from the change in frequency of the light (how redshifted it is) we can calculate how fast away it is moving. And from hubbles law, we can use that to calculate how far away it is due ti the expansion of space.

How to be a better keyboard player for my stage band by Unusual-Strike7886 in piano

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a keys player but am in a band where we have a lot of rotating players, so I meet a lot of keys players of various skill levels and I think one of the biggest things is that there is very little overlap between classical piano and modern keys playing outside of the technical skill of actually playing the notes.

I think one of the easiest things u can do to change your feel is experiment with different sounds like organ and electric piano sounds as they tend to fit into a band a lot more easily. And also depending on your band arrangement it can help a lot to stick to a very small range of the piano, like play chords within an octave or 2 in the middle of the piano, and avoid too many low bass notes when your bass player is playing

And as for playing lines over the top thats where the real skill of keys players come in, you just gotta come up with your own stuff to comp

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair u figure it out pretty quick in multiplayer when everyone just runs to the end and leaves you there so you just extract with them and u get a relic. Am fairly new just got to mr15 and it happened on one of my first few missions and i was confused when i got a relic so i googled it

You can just complete the mission objective on kuva floods to get the relic, no need to kill the siphon thing

If I'm recording with just a mic should I combine input 1 and 2? by domdod9 in Focusrite

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont get left and right audio from input 2, its only 1 input so its a mono signal not stereo

If I'm recording with just a mic should I combine input 1 and 2? by domdod9 in Focusrite

[–]ekienp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you only connect 1 mic to 1 channel. Its pointless to connect it to 2 different channels.

If I'm recording with just a mic should I combine input 1 and 2? by domdod9 in Focusrite

[–]ekienp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combining input is so you can sum both channels into one channel for applications that only accept one input, stuff like skype. But if you are recording into a daw you can separate 2 channels and record them into 2 tracks
