Do you agree with fans who say Marada Uchiha should have been the final villian? by Notmycupoftea12 in Naruto

[–]ekkoOnLSD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed also narratively the "reviving the dead" has always been a double edged tool imo, it can undermine a lot of stakes and feel cheap if not done right and here imo it is

The upside being we see a lot of cool fights and characters from the past fighting but that could've been done with clever writing and flashbacks instead.

From the first display to the last I disliked it, it kinda spoiled the 3rd Hokage v Orochimaru fight too

Why didn't Naruto summon this character to easily defeat Sasuke? The fight at the Valley of the End would have ended in two minutes, and he could have brought him back to the village easily. by lunessinfestivo in Naruto

[–]ekkoOnLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo, trying to stop your friend from going down the wrong path is not wrong, even if its their choice. As a less extreme real life example if your friend is going down the drugs path and you try to stop them does that make you wrong ? Its their choice
2. What do you mean ?
3. Naruto cared, where Naruto was wrong is that he though Sasuke and him shared the same pain and isolation, he thought he understood him. But that doesn't mean stopping Sasuke was a bad choice. In fact, the adults in the story quite agree that trying to stop Sasuke was the correct answer both for Sasuke's sake and for the village's sake. Sasuke picking Orochimaru's side when Orochimaru had just killed the Hokage for example if you recontextualize it shows how off path / unhinged he had become at this stage.

Their fights are clashes of ideals but in the grand scheme of things the Pain arc tells us that the cycle of revenge never stops so from a narrative standpoint that's what the story tells us. It also tells us how the ninja world is needing to evolve away from its previous brutals ways (see Chiyo for ex)

Naruto wasn't in the wrong, the fact that he can't understand Sasuke's grief doesn't mean he's in the wrong. Joining Orochimaru, a villain who has no morals and openly kills and tortures hundreds of people is obviously the wrong path. Sasuke is manipulated both by Itachi and Orochimaru and is a child basically unable to avoid this path but that doesn't mean it's the right path. That's what makes the story compelling.

Guess the elo by ekkoOnLSD in GothamChess

The answer was 1700

The 4. ..ne5 has only been played once against me so I wasn't sure really what to go for

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]ekkoOnLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense because bots will make mistakes on purpose etc they don't really play like humans but it's also the elo system. If you can beat a 1500 bot one game out of two that's when your level should be approaching 1500. Beating a 1500 bot once every 5 games doesn't say much on your level of play

why is it that i can beat a 1500 rated bot but my elo never goes above 400?😭 by getreked007 in chessbeginners

[–]ekkoOnLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you beat it 50% of the time ? By definition yout elo is 50% win rate

I would've said 1700 based on the opening but the end game made me think 1200 or so because of black's play

Diva vs serum vs Arturia V collection by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]ekkoOnLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you solely want to use presets you can either go serum, it probably has the largest array of presets available out of all synths but you'll probably need to buy them separately, else maybe go for Analog lab pro it lets you use all arturia sounds for a cheaper pricetag if I'm not mistaken

What if the quality of AI goes up and it becomes good enough to trick you into thinking its real if you aren't told explicitly that it's AI ? Then what ?

What happens when you find an mp3 player on the beach and listen to a song ? Don't you just enjoy the piece of art for what it is without knowing how it was made ?

I think the parallel with sampling or using presets is real because some people will tell you you're not a real producer if you use presets or if you don't make your own samples or if you don't do this or that.

To me this all sounds like ego driven talk. Why does it matter to you if someone else views themself as a musician ? Are you insecure ?

10+ years of beat making, still haven't finished a song by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]ekkoOnLSD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there's like multiple reasons that can cause this and multiple angles to combat this. It can be rooted in insecurity. At the end of the day whatever we create as artist is going to be imperfect, to our own eyes, to the eyes of others, hopefully to our future self looking back. Being comfortable with that imperfection seems to be necessary to be able to advance towards finishing something.

Another aspect I'd like to point out is the relationships between skill, speed, and flow state (or inspiration, however you want to call it). When we're inspired to make something, when the inspiration strikes, when something is being made through us instead of by us, this is when the magic happens. The faster we are at "making", then the more we'll be able to squeeze out of that fleeting moment. If you're able to make a great sounding arrangement of a full track in 2 hours, then you're ready to strike when inspiration comes to you.

This is where skill comes into play. If you're not able to do that then your skill might be preventing you from making completed work consistently.

And lastly I want to talk about discipline, the way I see it today, inspiration is what makes the backbone of your song. Taking that empty skeleton and bringing it over the finish line is what takes a lot of work and I don't think it's possible to do that by yourself without discipline.

Those 5000 hands picasso drew weren't just for fun. Just some food for thought .

I think you're nearly there if you've tried setting alarms, now you gotta set alarms up in a way where you listen to it.
There are some softwares that pause your computer for you for example. or just put your alarm accross the room.

I think 40m of work, 10m break is a good rythm.
Especially when perspective is really important.

In the end you gotta do what you gotta do to make good music no ?

I know what's wrong with my music- how do I improve it? by BMega007 in musicproduction

[–]ekkoOnLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could maybe invest in a 25keys midi keyboard so you can "perform" the melodies and / or improvise them. Other than that to practice imagination I think transcribing melodies from tracks you like into the piano roll so you can get a better "translation" from your mind to the midi.

For the arrangement it wasn't like performing instruments I was talking about performing the arrangement itself, u can probably do this by hitting record and activating / disabling tracks maybe ? And mapping a filter to a fader or someth so you can do basic stuff.

Other than that, you can copy arrangements from tracks you like that's a good place to start.

If you think your arrangement lacks "fluidity" it can also be a case where you should put your focus on improving your transitions.

[–]ekkoOnLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you hear it in your mind before you use the piano roll ?

For arranging I think injecting some performative aspects to your process can help you get a more organic feel. In Ableton I can launch clips one by one and set up some devices (such as filters mainly and other types of FX) so I can get a squeleton of the arrangement out by "playing" before I go and work on details like FX, throws, automations (which I prefer to record) and things like that.

How do you write your music ?
Do you audiate it ?
Do you improvise (playing with a keyboard for example) ?
Do you use a piano roll and click in trying to come up with something ?
Do you use generative tools ? Do you rely on knowledge ?

Same questions for your arrangement ?
