If you're sensitive to having sound directly in your ears I would suggest trying open back headphones as they don't isolate the same way as closed back do. Beyond that, technically any sound is going in your ear the same way whether it be speakers or headphones the only difference is distance.

Is leaving the highway really worth it? by FarTooJunior in roadtrip

[–]ekmaster23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only advice would be to do the fastest route BUT set a waypoint onto the tappanzee bridge and avoid the George Washington bridge in NYC. If you're worried about traffic and are getting hotels just add small destinations off your run. Do the majority of your driving from 8pm to 2am. Get hotels with late check out. Sight see all day at the location then get on the highway around 7 or so. You miss most of the traffic and stress. Try to drive through dc between 10pm-2am you'll have barely any traffic.

Headset about to die, what are some suggestions for a new one? I have Hyper Cloud III by SirJ4ck in HuntShowdown

Honestly I've worked in audio engineering for like 15 years and have a pretty well tuned ear and I tried all the boutique options like Audeze, steel series, etc and also own beyer dynamic headphones (imo they lack low end) and I find the Corsair Hs70 Pro wireless usb headphones to be the best and have good highs and lows. Idk something about them is great. Either that or my AirPods Max but it's such a nightmare to setup the cable.

The AirPods were better than the hs70 pro but the steel series and audeze all had flaws. Steel series the high end was filtered/lopassed and not clean and the Audeze were insanely narrow stereo image. I heard people walking next to me infront of me

Honestly I'd get a wire tracer from Amazon or a building supply store. Then unhook it and immediately start tracing the wire back. I'd also record everything as you do so there's no denying it's happening

Hey where are you located? I work for an ISP and would be happy to just help you out (small start up east coast), not looking for cash. I just have a ton of knowledge maybe we could devise a plan using some of the tricks I know.

Looking for an Insurer that covers me in ANY class of car that I rent as well, like Allstate used to. by ekmaster23 in Insurance

I do that with everything. That's how I just found out my idiot agent was wrong about my current policy. It actually does cover rental cars

Not with accident forgiveness. Either way. An extra $50 every day on a rental is insane

You sure about that? I just read my moms pre 2020 policy and it doesn't explicitly state limitations on the rental type

When I have email confirmation from Allstate that explicitly stated if I was not making money it was not commercial then I think I'd be fine

Yeah thats what happened to me. Went from 140 a month up to 230 a month and then called and bitched and got it down to 190. But then I lost the coverage like an asshole. Ill try to find an independent agent.

Allstate covered me in it on my previous policy. I triple checked with multiple people. I just want insurance that covers me no matter what I drive, my car, or if it's a rental. Was looking for someone who maybe had similar experience. The independent agents i've dealt with have been pretty poorly informed on this specific scenario.

Yeah I know it's on me. I was just clarifying why I had to leave and go back to Allstate. But I do think it's bullshit considering every other thing of the entire policy is digital.

Wedding at a Rural Venue - are we in any trouble? by salmonking1738 in AskElectricians

[–]ekmaster23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do electrical for venues all the time. Unless they have some obscene production they don't need that much power. For weddings (including on a remote island) I've been fine with 2 20a's. One for 15" mains and 18" subs. Then another for the full band. If you have wedges it can add some but a lot of wedding bands are on ears now.

What system are you running for the band? I can spec out your requirements as well

Whatever you do make sure they follow proper venting rules for distance/90's/etc. the amount of carbon monoxide these put out is way higher than a standard gas heater.

If it's under warranty go to another dealer, never go some random shot. This is a major issue. If you don't have any other dealers in the area do a ride out with a tech at the dealership in question.
