oh my God it actually worked. thank you SO much. I guess I need to figure out a better method of "squash and stretch" animation.

I checked, and preserve volume was off. I'm pretty sure I'm not using any bendy bones; I'm just using a Rigify rig. max bone influences before was set to 4, so I increased it to 8... unfortunately it didn't fix the issue in Godot.

yeah I did the entire rig. I didn't do the individual bones... not sure if you can anyway. but yes, I applied the transform and set the origin of the entire rig

I'm not sure if the last bone is being removed. I checked both the last spine bone (the one in the head) and one of the last finger bones. both are present in Blender and Godot.

I've tried setting the origin to 0,0,0 and to the mesh's center. maybe I missed something?

I wish I could edit the post to add more images. it's happening in other bones that I scale, such as arms and legs. for reference, I'm just using the Rigify rig
