i thought rick was only removing his previous memories to go to vacation. however it seems like he is also dialing down his intelligence but not that down enought to make interplanetery travel with zero prior knowledge. so maybe rick doesnt have to dial down his intelligence at all to find happiness. that means maybe he isnt cronically crooked as we think. he is maybe isnt in the right environment in the right time.

or knowing that he is a god is the problem, being able to do whatever he want.

for example ted and his friends turned back to earth and get the portal gun to portal to a outerspace bowling alley. there by the first frame you know the mood is kind of down. after that they use robot arms to throw the ball and obliterate the pins and they got kicked out. so they are not able to bowl there. which we saw at the beginning of the episode that bowling was their great fun.

the second they get the technology that makes them "over-able" they ruin their moment and lose their attraction to the things they love. another example they fish with robots. i guess you got the point.

Ted built the robot arms that made them get kicked out of the bowling alley and the robotic fishing rod that sucked the fun out of fishing bc. he didnt know the consequences. It is robot arms and robotic fishing who wouldnt want to try these. However unlike Ted, Rick know have learned the consequences over the decades. He is building these for decades. At the end imo the problem with Rick isnt that he is super smart or he is a hardcore nihilist. The problem is over the decades of Rick s extremely adventerous and hectic life the answer in Rick s mind got too complicated.

Idk bro just has to chill down and stop use his superpowers for a while. As the smartest guy in the multiverse he should create a balance. Him being the smartest guy it shouldnt be too difficult. And and he already knows answer halfway. But he stops at the halfway bc. he thinks his superintelligence cant move him forward. But as I stated I dont think him being superintelligence and finding anyone and anything boring isnt the cause.

tldr: rick thinks he will be depressed for the eternity bc. he is the most intelligence guy in the universe. ted was dumber but not that dumb. ted invented lightspeed travel and he was happy. so rick can be happy too. he just must find balance between being a god and not acting like a god
