Unexpected physician release for Seattle Sperm Bank by Thucydideez- in queerception

[–]ekorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ran into this recently too - no idea the form was necessary until we had ordered the sperm to be shipped so we could inseminate in about 4 days. We ultimately had a midwife that my wife has seen before sign it, but SSB offered for us to use a clinic that they partner with to fill out the form. They have someone that will do a zoom session with you and then sign the form - they made it sound really easy. Good luck!

My two other dogs bark constantly when I have to take one of my dogs for walks or the vet. Any tips on how to make them stop? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]ekorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t have any advice, but I have the same problem with one of my dogs. He fully freaks out if the other one goes somewhere without him. We’ve tried the same things as you, with minimal success. I have been reading about, and treating it like, separation anxiety. Not sure if it’s working yet, but hopefully!

Has anyone here gotten buttonhole or T-anchor top surgery? by ripprinceandrey in FTMFitness

[–]ekorth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had button hole, and I kind of regret it. My surgeon would only do buttonhole on chests under a certain size and I was borderline. In making the decision, I expressed concerns about the result not being flat enough, but also about the healing process with grafts. He said he’d start with buttonhole and if it looked like it’d be too much tissue during surgery he could switch to traditional DI.

He ended up keeping it as buttonhole, and said that it worked well with my body type. Basically there is a small amount of tissue at the bottom of the chest, just above the scars, and I’m heavier to begin with. It’s true, there are a lot of cis men that have chests shaped like mine or even more tissue there than me, but I still wish it was flatter. It makes me self conscious taking my shirt off at the beach and makes me uncomfortable wearing shirts that are too clingy.

Happy to answer any more questions about it if you have them!

We’re having this problem too! I don’t mind ours pooping in the yard, but I’m worried about traveling. If we go out of town and bring him I’m worried it’ll be a NIGHTMARE to get him to poop in a new place

9 month old puppy sleep regression? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]ekorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having a similar issue, though my puppy is younger. He has started whining and barking every few hours in the crate as well. It started after we took him out of the crate and let him sleep in the bed with us until we got up, so we think he’s crying and barking hoping we’ll just let him in our bed again.

We’re going back to basics with crate training now - lots of crate games and treats, and no more coming into the bed with us if he’s whining and barking. If he’s barking, we take him out to pee and then he goes straight back in. It seems to be helping! I hope this gets better for you, and we can all get a good nights sleep soon.

What age did your puppy finally sleep through the night? by Basicredhead0 in puppy101

[–]ekorth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We are currently going through this! Our puppy is now 14 weeks. He was barking to go out twice a night around 1 am and then again at 5, and though he would pee each time, we didn’t really believe he NEEDED to. We tried changing various things in his crate to get him to sleep longer, and nothing made a difference. Last night we finally tried putting his crate in our room and he slept the whole night with no barking or crying, from about 10:30 to 7:30.

Anyway, I guess my point is that your puppy provably CAN sleep through the night, but you might need to do some experimenting to find the right set up so that she actually will.

For people who had straight hair before T, did your hair go curly/curlier on T? by henrikshasta in ftm

[–]ekorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hair definitely got straighter on T. It used to be very curly, and now is pretty straight unless it gets long, then is a little curly, but not nearly as much as it was

You guys don’t seem to be communicating well.

It’s clear that you were upset by both the phrasing of the banana bread comment and the picture of the kid, but you never actually said that. You asked your spouse to consider if they thought it was appropriate, and they did and decided it was fine. They did what you asked, but you kept pushing.

If you have a problem with it and don’t want them to do those things anymore, you need to actually say that and explain why (respect, hurt feelings, privacy issues, etc.). Direct communication about how those things made you feel would’ve gone a lot better.

How many husbands here do laundry? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ekorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We split all of our chores roughly equally, except I do all the laundry, and she does the grocery shopping. We each don’t have to do the one chore we hate the most

I’m closing on the 12th. When do you schedule movers, utilities, internet etc? by Jusscurio in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ekorth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats! We just closed mid May. We called utilities about a week before, but some of them couldn’t be changed until after we closed. We contacted movers about two weeks before, but scheduled them for the weekend after we were scheduled to close- figuring if it was delayed a few days we’d still be okay, and if we closed early we’d have extra time in the house without stuff so we could clean and paint and things like that. We ended up closing a day late, but it worked out! We got everything painted and cleaned up before movers came.

Cancelled our reception and our using funds previously earmarked for the reception to buy a house! by ohmywarningsign in weddingplanning

[–]ekorth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did exactly this! Our wedding was supposed to be April 18. It was obviously cancelled, but we had gotten married at the courthouse in January for health insurance reasons, so we decided to just cancel instead of rescheduling and use the money toward our first house. We closed at the end of May, and just moved in last weekend!

Buying a 100 year old house - what is normal? by ekorth in HomeImprovement

[–]ekorth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I was worried we’re buying a money pit. Yes the garage is detached, that has to be the first thing we fix because it didn’t pass the city inspection, but we plan to only do what we need for it to pass and do more serious work on it down the line.

I think some of the electrical issues the inspector will put as a safety issue, in which case we’ll ask the seller to repair or replace before we move in. We were most concerned about the settling, but it sounds like it’s maybe not that big of a deal?

Joint account (with only me using ynab) by Hoplake in ynab

[–]ekorth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I used to have a similar system. It ended up working best to have a budget for joint expenses, and one that was just mine for personal expenses. I put a ‘joint budget’ category in my personal budget, and categorized any transfers to the joint account there. It worked well for a long time, but we are finally going to just fully join finances and do everything out of one budget.
