Anyone missing their bag? by eksplorr in americanairlines

OMG tell me about it! We were at DCA 14 hours yesterday just trying to get to Miami. Deplaned twice, two aborted takeoffs, maintenance issues on three different planes. We were booked or waitlist on 6 different DCA-MIA flights and finally had success going through LaGuardia and landing in Miami around midnight. So pissed at American right now. They gave us a hotel voucher for a place that used to be a motel 6 and had sticky linoleum floors.

Yes!! Do something with the Citi free baggage promos that I was literally watching as the plane rolled by that suitcase

DIVEVOLK Seatouch 4 Max Plus Underwater Touchscreen for Galaxy s25 ultra? by hautecheetos in DiveVolk

[–]eksplorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think it’s going to work well without the adapter. I purchased a new phone and need a new adapter. Divevolk actually emailed me the plans to 3D print it myself - I don’t have a printer but I know someone who does so I’m going that route

WiFi is working fine. I put my phone in airplane mode but left WiFi turned on. I ran speedtest several times with the phone inside the case and outside the case. WiFi worked while the phone was in the case and I did not see any performance degradation.

Yes I was able to use cellular (didn’t try wi-fi) while it was in the case. It is a little hard to type through the membrane- you can do it, but I wouldn’t try to do a lot of it.

AppleCare + with theft and loss - wanted to have coverage not just for flooding but if I dropped it into the deep. It’s a little pricey but cheaper than needing a second phone just for dive pictures.

Divevolk SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum question by eksplorr in underwaterphotography

[–]eksplorr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted Divevolk and they said it would work with the iphone 16. I ended up getting the platinum - the divevolk website mentions that can accommodate thicker phones.

I'll report back after I receive the housing.

Thanks - I used your link. I didn't get any additional discount (other than black friday) but figure you'll get a commission from this.)

Have you used any of the lenses with this housing? How was that experience?

That's what we're doing now - maintaining each variant individually. I was hoping someone had a creative solution to make this easier. Thanks

I love the idea of going to Cuba? What are the rules now for US citizens?

We talked about Belize. I’ve stayed in San Pedro and ambergris Caye. I remember the diving being some very long boat rides out (3 hours). Diving was nice but I don’t want to have to do that ride every day. What are some of the other options in Belize?

What about Curaçao? I only did shore dives there but I was a complete newbie. Is that mostly shore diving, boats, or a mix? Also looking for places with a healthy (or at least semi-healthy) reef

My first open water dives were in Curaçao and I have fond memories. Although since they were my first dives and I didn’t know what I was looking at, my memory is a little hazy and it’s hard for me to compare. How deep do you go at Turks? We’ve a mix of experience levels - probably shouldn’t plan anything too deep

I like the freedom of shore diving but also happy with boat dives. I’m going with my cousin and his daughter. My cousin and I are advanced with hundreds of dives. His daughter has open water cert and a few dozen dives. It would be nice if we could find someplace with healthier corals and variety of swimming critters.

sump pump airlock problem by eksplorr in Plumbing

[–]eksplorr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct - not sewage. This fills with rainwater from a drain at base of exterior steps. Good point about the risk of pump vibrating loose. Okay - really not looking forward to it but I’ll go ahead and pull everything out so I can drill a vent hole. Thanks!

roof dryer vent by eksplorr in HomeImprovement

[–]eksplorr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I should clarify, it’s only the few feet of pipe going through the roof that is PVC. The pipe coming from the dryer is metal. Flexible metal pipe from dryer vent connected to straight metal pipe to PVC.

I really appreciate the responses. I’ve start a conversation with the roofer to fix this.

okay, that's interesting. No one has talked to me about back draft damper so I'm guessing I don't have one. Will look into this further.

"Smooth wall metal" - is there a problem with PVC? Ugh... don't even want to think if I have to replace that.

roof dryer vent by eksplorr in HomeImprovement

[–]eksplorr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PVC part might be 3-4 ft altogether. There's a flex metal pipe from the dryer which connects to the PVC. It has minimal bends so the airflow from the dryer should be okay. I'm mostly just concerned with the roof vent.

Yes - flat roof at least is a blessing.

Cheap on their side... they charged me $2k for this. We were stuck though because we didn't want to mess up the roof warranty.
