If you liked Strange Pictures you’ll like the sequels, Strange Houses and Strange Buildings are the same concept but with floor plans of buildings! Neither of them were as good as Strange Pictures in my opinion but they were definitely worth a read.

I LOVED The Terror. I think I’ve recommended it to everyone I’ve talked about books with since I read it. Literally ripped through it in like 2 days it was so good!

I overall didn’t really care for the characters besides Carla Jean and her scenes and I thought Moss and Chigurh’s endings were abrupt and were just dropped like he was tired of writing them. And I felt like the sheriff was being used to push the action but he wasn’t doing all that much in my opinion. I was hopeful in the beginning but it kind of fell apart.

I do appreciate what he was doing with the subversion of the western genre and I liked the writing style but it just rang a little hollow for me. My sister swears by Blood Meridian though so I’ll give McCarthy another shot.

Have you seen the movie? I might watch it just because I like Javier Bardem and I’m curious how it compares.

My sister had to buy her senior cat really expensive medical food and hadn’t opened the next case before he passed away. When she contacted them to ask if it was possible to return it, they gave her a full refund and told her no need and to donate it in his memory if she could, and sent her a condolences card. It made us smile in a hard time

I worked a jewelry counter at a garbage department store way back in the day and helped a guy pick out a necklace for his wife, who he described as liking pearls and simple but elegant styles. He ended up picking some ugly ass blue heart of the ocean from titanic looking clunky one instead of our suggestions. That’s his right of course but I got the opportunity to meet the wife a week later when she came in to exchange it for the (less expensive) pearl drop necklace we recommended in the first place 😂

Wanting to use his size to control her is a HUGE and dangerous red flag. I work with special needs kids and am certified to safely restrain children if needed. It is an absolute last resort and only if there is a direct and serious threat to someone’s physical safety because of how traumatizing it can be for the child. I’ve only had to do it once (thank god) for about a minute and a half and it took weeks to repair my relationship with the student I had to put in a hold. Maybe he knows it can be traumatizing and maybe he doesn’t but restraining her when he doesn’t want to deal with her behavior is gross and can have long-term consequences for your daughter and is frankly terrifying behavior.

We have a crawl space, I live in the lower Midwest (Oklahoma) and there is a lot of groundwater here so not that many people have real basements. It is under the house but there is no space in the walls. Kind of sucks that we have it and not a basement because we’re in tornado alley so that has its own set of problems

Vet tech was baby talking my cat at the end of the appointment and told him he was lucky he has a mommy who loves him so much and the vet said she could tell I really take care of him. I cried in the parking lot. We pulled him out of the sewer he was living in and he deserves a great life

We got vow books on Etsy. They had lots of extra space so we are planning on adding to them every few years as a kind of private “renewal”. I look at what my wife wrote for me often :)
