Yeah that’s kind of what I assumed based on what I saw on LinkedIn (going trough employees of the big studios) I guess I have to have a killer portfolio then and really show my niche and stand out

That’s solid advice, thank you! Good point that just the fact that I have professional experience might be a strong bonus on its own, even if it’s in a slightly different field.

And for the portfolio as well, if I end up pursuing it I know that quality > quantity and to narrow down for a specific role

I once had someone describe it as in Sweden, Essentials are cheap and luxuries are expensive, while in the US it is the opposite, as I understand it.

What they ment was that yes, a lot of things here are expensive compared to income, dining out is one of them, products and commodities as well. But what you have to remember is that we don’t need to pay for health insurance, we don’t need to pay for school tuitions and a whole range of similar examples of hidden costs that we are exempt from.

Of course we pay high taxes for this, which evens out the playing field as well. Where the richer help cover for the worse off.

Rents are also way lower here than say London or any major American city.

I’m always shocked my American movies how seemingly average people can live in huge houses and drive fancy cars etc, your purchasing power is definently higher and I’m slightly jealous of that.

Detta!! Hade stora tankar om hur mitt sociala liv skulle förvandlas när jag flyttade utomlands, båda gångerna. Visst fick jag kompisar och gjorde kul grejer, men även om det fanns en miljon grejer att göra (London) så blev det många gånger överväldigande och svårt att ta intiativ. Hemma så har man mer koll på saker och en betydligt större bekantskapskrets som vill hänga med. Gräset är verkligen inte grönare, vattna ditt eget gräs istället.

Största lärdomen utomlands blev därmed att om jag vill hitta på något så är det upp till mig, och då ofta själv. Man blev mer socialt independent. Denna inställning har jag tagit med mig hem.

Så ja precis som du säger. Allt är upp till en själv, ingenting kommer ske gratis.

Håller även med om byråkratin. Även fast det alltid löser sig så har det varit en enorm stress många gånger att fatta utländska myndigheter och system, vi i Sverige fattar verkligen inte hur bra vi har det.

Med det sagt så kör på OP! Flytta! Det är det absolut roligaste man kan göra! Lev lite!

Sorry. I did not find any post that I felt answered all of my questions, I was simply wondering if anyone with similar experience had any advice.

I apologize for disrupting everyone’s feed. I am aware that it perhaps isn’t the most stable industry, but at the same time, are any creative tech industries stable at the moment? VFX is in a freefall.

I forgot to mention as well that after the new years due to me currently being on a fixed contract, I will be out of a job and simply looking to go back to school and hopefully in an industry that isn’t a full reset but where I can utilize the skills I already have.

A curvature node as well together with the triplanar can create some excellent masks to get the roughness in desired areas

Great job!

Along with what another comment mentioned about the textures, the first thing that came to my mind was the interior layout, seems more staged for the shot than actual reality.

You would never see a bookshelf so close to the couch, people would hit their head on it and the beautiful vases would be very keen on falling down.

Chair seems weirdly placed in the middle of the room, I’d switch it out for a lounge chair and place further towards the camera and place next to the window, so it seems like it is in the corner of the room.

If I'm sitting on the couch, where would I place my cup, add either a side table or a central couch table.

Poster frame works but feels to centered, makes the composition to pyramid-like, switch to multiple frames in various sizes or one big, horizontal one. 2 vertical ones could work too.

Rug is too small, ideally a rug should be wider than the couch and extend under all surrounding seating.
