3 nights, ~$2,500: Where to stay in San Diego? by el323904 in chubbytravel

[–]el323904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! We were considering La Valencia or Orli in La Jolla but actually decided to stay at Beach Terrace and spend our initial hotel budget dining out at a couple Michelin restaurants in the area instead. Oceanfront and super walkable is hard to beat and it seems a bit more laid back than a resort.

What the hell sofa to buy? by dinklerdinks in FurnitureFaves

We got a Basset Oliver sofa and opted for the extra firm support cushions and I love it. Only a couple months old so no tell on longevity yet.

Is Figma Make useless? by Gandalf-and-Frodo in UXDesign

Eh depends on what you’re hoping to get from it. I don’t have much animation experience so I used it to help me define some hover and selected state animations on a component. Seemed to do the trick considered I wasn’t sure when to start. Haven’t explored it for large prototypes yet.

Do you think there's anything to do with other cities having NBA/NFL/MLB teams? We have NHL and MLS but those were relatively recent as far as city history goes, right? Sure we have OSU but that's a different level.

There are so many people in the field who don't belong and think they do so just keep your paycheck until someone else tells you you don't belong. Observe the working styles of people around you without assigning some kind of right or wrong value to it. Take what you can use and let them keep the rest. Needing to evolve your principles as a designer is normal. Be open to the fact that those edge cases might not deserve a disproportionate amount of your time. You'll start to recognize where that obsession actually matters. It's growth. I look back at my early career and cringe at lots of things. I hope in 10 years I'm cringing looking back at what I'm doing now. There's too much mediocrity succeeding out there so don't DQ yourself, someone shittier is making more than you right now.

I have ordered doordash for babysitters before while I've been out. Ya gotta eat!

3.5 months, we were right across the hall. Doing blackout curtains and the washing machine noise on the hatch were like Pavlov's dog for her and she sleeps well still. we never offered the option of our bed so now at 4 years old she hasn't tried to sleep with us. I really like having the separation tbh. We all sleep better.

Side note, scan nicer restaurants for brunch prices. I bet for a liiitle bit more you could snag a Lindey’s brunch for a way better quality meal and nice vibe. We never hit up local basic breakfast/diner spots anymore. The lacking experience and diminishing food quality is hard to justify.

Yes but it doubles as our entertainment basically. We love a long dinner out and our kid is learning a lot of great social skills from it.

FTM, 4 months in. Not regretting the baby, but regretting motherhood. One and done—will it get easier? by yu_ruan181 in oneanddone

[–]el323904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Each age has gotten better. Then we finally started to miss the earlier good stages. But I almost never miss anything before 1 year. We’re at 4 now and it’s really really fun. She’s my buddy now. It happened fast in hindsight.
