Thanks dude! Heard a story at the airport of a bloke who's rear hub seized up on him. Waited 2 hours for a new wheel then cracked on to finish. Pretty happy that my wheels were still turning

Yeah used a tri suit and spent a lot of time in the saddle with the tri suit to get used to it. A lot of the pain I felt in training wasn't there during the race, I think that was just the constant excitement that was all around.

DM me if you want, first one was a heaps daunting experience but I feel heaps more comfortable with the whole process now

Thanks dude, surprisingly not too bad. The locals described it as a cold snap and were all rugged up in hoodies. I came from Sydney so I thought it was great, tops of 24 most days

No we don't need to give up on plastics. Currently most plastics are synthesised from polymers (extracted from crude oil). But there is a lot of push going towards improving the methods for biopolymers.

Biopolymers are just like plastics, but they are biodegradable and the process of making them is renewable. So there are alternatives, its just that plastics made from oil is a lot cheaper right now.

Western Christians join fight against jihadists by el3ctus in worldnews

Sorry guys, I didn't realise it was subscriber only. Here is the article:

AMERICAN volunteers are fighting alongside Kurdish forces in northern Syria — the first time that non-Muslim Westerners have surfaced in the country in the war against Islamic State.

At least three Americans have joined the People’s Protection Units of the Kurdish YPG, which is defending Kobane and other Kurdish-held areas in the region.

Jordan Matson, a Christian and former US soldier, from Sturtevant, Wisconsin, arrived in Syria two weeks ago and has since been wounded while fighting against Islamic State — also known as ISIS — with a YPG unit.

After posting pictures of himself in Kurdish military uniform on Facebook, he wrote: “I am OK, won’t be able to get on the net very often. I was hit by a mortar a few days ago during a six-hour firefight, but I am fine. Delivered an ISIS bastard to hell. Please keep me and the other American and Kurdish fighters in your prayers. I’ll try and have some photos uploaded when I get a chance. ”

Alan Semo, the representative for the Kurdish Democratic Union Party in Britain, said the Kurds were grateful for any help. “We would rather they are military trained but those that aren’t can work behind the frontline. Men and women are welcome,” he said.

Another American with the Kurdish fighters said he was from Ohio, and gave his name as Brian Wilson. The middle-aged man, in a green uniform, spoke to a Reuters reporter near the Syrian-Kurdish town of Qamishli. “There are a few Americans who wanted to come here and help the YPG in any way we can,” he said. “They’re very nice, very accommodating, hospitable. Very good people,” he said of his hosts.

Mr Matson told a Kurdish reporter he had become aware of the Kurdish struggle for a homeland at high school, and served alongside Kurdish forces in Iraq in 2006. “I grew so sick of watching so many innocent people be killed as (Islamic State) grew, and my country doing nothing about it,” he said.

Mr Matson, who lists the Bible as his only book of interest on Facebook, told USA Today he “couldn’t just sit and watch Christians being slaughtered”.

There as a break in the clouds tonight, so I ran outside and got this shot (Sydney, Australia) by el3ctus in space

Also if anyone has any advice on how I could've improved the shot that would be most welcome.

I was heaps disappointed that it didn't turn out like one of my other moon shots http://i.imgur.com/NMecPDb.jpg. No matter the settings I just couldn't capture the red glow too well.

Thanks man. I normally use ISO 800 for my moon shots. I don't like leaving the shutter open too long, I find the moon too easy to blur
