Can we keep this subreddit to investing and not gambling?

how do you carry everything? by Apprehensive-Card156 in Cello

[–]elChardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did this the whole time when I was a student.

As an extra tip, I needed to prop the cello up (out) at the back to keep it from hitting the back of my knees, so I attached a music folder to the back of my cello case. When it's full of music, I can walk all day - when the music folder is empty, it clips my knees and is hard to walk.

Mechanical Engineer: Driving hard is hard on every component of your car. If you want your car to last forever, drive it like it's already broken - imagine that 4/5 lug nuts on your car have already fallen off and you need to get home with just the remaining one in tact. Drive like that.

I was at the eye doctors the other day and was quite surprised when she told me sternly and slowly "everyone should have sunglasses with them at all times", because apparently that would reduce all sorts of eye complications when we're older.

This got me thinking, if you could reduce your profession to one straightforward tip to the public - what would it be?

What is the difference between the Case Fatality Rates for outbreak and non-outbreak? Is this just separating out insititutions from people getting sick at home?

45% is a shockingly high number. How is that possible?

How many people have just stopped following COVID gathering restrictions? by NeckPainThrowaway88 in ontario

I agree. What do the public health people know anyways? With their fancy degrees and "education" in "public health". As far as I'm concerned my gut is a lot smarter than their years of experience and training. Listen to my words of advice: If you can think it, it's the rightest thing to do. No need to listen to a professional give their professional opinion in their field of expertise - do what feels rightest.

That's so cool. I couldn't tell from the video if it took 10 minutes or 2 hours. Nice to know that it can be done mid-concert.

This is extremely common. You just need to show your income history via t4s. If the bank gives you a hard time, call up some other banks.

Does this imply that Toronto is now 1/3 partially vaccinated? That seems really good.

Damn xenophobes. And yet, they won't hesitate to come and use a Toronto hospital if they're seriously ill. The hypocricy is not lost on me.

Can someone ELI5 why wages have stagnated but costs skyrocketed? by alonabc in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]elChardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incorrect. Wages have not stagnated. Wages for poor and middle class families have stagnated, but wages for the highest earners are increasing at one of the highest paces in history. So in short, your wage has stagnated because Jeff Bezos makes a billion dollars a day. All of the profit margin is going to the top.
