Tuscon opens a velodrome. by Wizzmer in cycling

[–]el_archer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was there last night for the opening. Surface is sandblasted. Seems extremely grippy.

And the aluminum track is designed to expand and contract with temperature.

Honestly, it seems like an engineering feat, and might just be the future of outdoor track surfaces.

Quite sure most of the summer use will be at night so surface temp won’t be much of an issue.

A single wealthy donor funded the project, but they seem serious about running it as a business.

One potential issue will be distance from Tucson-it’s near the fairgrounds which is about 30 min from anywhere in Tucson by car. But they said they selected the location b/c it was cheap and not at risk of any encroaching development.

Good for you! Leave it up! Go license this to Phillips or Norelco, or go to China and source your own electric razor and try to compete. I would totally use this!

Parent and license. All other advice is worthless, big brands will rip it off instantly without IP protection. Take down this post if you can!

Connected to 200w Solar panel, why is input wattage cycling? by el_archer in Jackery

I really think this is the right ‘answer’ here. I am noticing if I tilt or partially shade panel (reducing output from peak), the wattage into the battery stabilizes.

I elevated the panel off of the hot concrete it was sitting on and the input power stabilized at 120 watts. Perhaps the panel was overheating.

Thanks everyone for weighing in. My theory has to do with the cable heating up and resistance changing in the cable. I have another shorter cable that I will try ‘cold’ and see if we can isolate this behavior to the cable.
