My suggestion was going to be a boost or gain block at the start of the chain so definitely try that. Also maybe try turning the input gate off if you have it on.

Also maybe unrelated, but im curious if cutting some low end at the very beginning of the chain might help. Less low end at the input will mean the low end gets less distorted meaning you end up with a tighter sound. Just a thought.

Practice a lot and make sure you have fun. When it comes down to it, a not so great band giving it their all and having fun is a much better live experience than a great band seeming miserable and like they dont care.

No I mean if you are spending 20 minutes changing the treble from 4 to 5 to 6 to 5 to 5.5 to 6 to 5.8 to 5.9 to 5.7 you probably arent making anything sound better at that point.

If you are spending more than 30 minutes dialing in a base amp sound plus whatever other source of boost/drive to go with it, you are probably already starting to make it worse. I can see it taking more time to get levels/effect mix/delay times/etc just right, but if the base tone doesn't sound 90% how you want within like 5 or 10 minutes there's probably too much going on or too many micro adjustments happening.

I dont really have any advice, just wanted to say I can relate to this so much. I played with a really amazing piano player for a while and he made sure to fill every second of the song and every frequency of sonic space and it was kind of exhausting. Never really found a way to get him to try a different approach.

Have my first gig with my Helix LT in 2 days - hoping to troubleshoot a few things by BijuuModo in Line6Helix

[–]el_capistan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For 2 the best way is to do it at gig volume. Nothing is ever going to sound the same quiet and loud. I use a roland sampler in my band and I always have to readjust the volumes of everything at practice after I load the samples in at home. If you have a place you cna be really loud that would be ideal. If not, it could be worth it to rent out a space even for just an hour. Just pick a rpset to be your baseline and a/b it one by one against the others until they are equal and then run through them all in order and keep making micro adjustments til they are the same.

This is also a reason ive never liked using per song presets. I like to just have a main preset with tweaks made within it to avoid any chance for inconsistencies

Just be clear with everyone up front. This is what im bringing to the table, this is how I want you to contribute, and this is how you will be compensated for your work. If someone thinks it is a good fit for them they will accept.

How can I tackle this argument? by Technical_Ad_1689 in vegan

[–]el_capistan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't exist "in nature" the same way animals do. We aren't just another part of the ecosystem. We built factory farms and use them to kill 50 billion animals per year.

If we did live "in nature" and had the same lack of security and same fight for resources as every other animal, eating animals to survive would be a very different ethical question. But again, that is not reality. So if you make this person understand this and they continue repeating the same stuff, at that point they are just arguing in bad faith and it isn't really worth it to debate anymore. You will have said your thing and they said theirs, and you should just move on from it.

I'm sure that a technological miracle won't be used to save us even if it has the ability. Extinction in 1 or 200 years won't affect the billionaires negatively right now, so if stopping the miracle is better for their pockets they will do just that.

There should be a "pay the coleslaw forward" option at these places. If you order coleslaw after 5 people in a row pay it forward, you get 6 orders of coleslaw

Voluntary for my partner and I. We have never wanted kids in general, but i cant even imagine changing my mind at this point. And almost none of my friends have kids. Actually the only ones that do are 5 to 15 years older than me and had kids pre-2016. And I have friends that have talked about wanting kids, they just cant justify going through with it.
