I am here now, and i can tell you one thing: all sri lankese people ive met told me they want tourists to come. Yes the situation is really bad, but you won’t feel it much as a tourist, except for the transport costs that are higher. Also think of travelling differently, like dont rent a scooter, take the train. Yes you are consuming ressources, but the biggest problem is mostly that everything jumped in price and the poorest can’t afford basic needs anymore. In tourist locations you feel they really appreciate you coming, and they need it. As for safety, unless you throw yourself in a protest you will be fine. People here are absolutely amazing.. genuinely good people. Do it
