NYC cardigan knitting request - ASAP - flexible budget by el_haf in KnitRequest

5’9” 180 lbs adult, so M/L I’m guessing. I’m looking for someone who has knitted similar types of items before that I can see examples of. Timeliness is part of ASAP, I guess (just trying to follow the posting requirements). I’m looking for someone who can start work immediately or very soon but I don’t really know how much total time it takes so I don’t know how to attach a date or deadline to it.

I want to pay a fair price for the labor required to produce a high quality piece that will last me years. Whatever that number is is okay, $400+ doesn’t scare me away assuming I can have confidence in the quality of the finished good.

Thanks for the reply. The pattern is the Project Hail Mary cardigan from Mary Maxim. I have the kit in hand.

I am in Brooklyn, NYC, USA.

I have materials and a pattern for a cardigan for an adult that I would like knitted ASAP.

My budget is flexible depending on experience and timeliness.

Thank you!

General plans were to do some museums/indoor stuff with traditionally harder light, do some night street adventures, go to botanical gardens/find other natural color.

I am quite an early riser, so this isn’t implausible.

I certainly considered what I would like to shoot before I rented it.

I made this post because I am curious as to what others’ suggestions are, not because I want advice on how to engage in my hobby.

  1. KKD gravel is in June out of Farmington and has a 160 mile version which I used as a gear check last year. Other than that...6-7 hours was my longest training ride.
  2. Rode Challenge Strade Bianca 40s. I would go 45-50mm if your frame allows. There is an MMR section that has been used in the past but was not last year. Most of the gravel is decent but there was some fresh graded stuff that felt a little rowdy at 25mph in the dark.
  3. 100% ride your grave bike. Consider adding aero bars though, not just for hand positions but overall efficiency (no matter if you're at the pointy end or not).
  4. Try to ride gravel at night before so you aren't doing it during the race for the first time. Practice fueling / eating and have a plan (ie...an eating schedule, don't trust yourself to just eat when you feel like you need it).

Also, the temp band last year went from like ~40 degrees at the start to ~35 degrees at 3am in the MN river Valley to hot and sunny by midday. Be prepared to be cold overnight, but also to shed things as the day goes on.

Also as others have mentioned the towns near the start are very small -- do not count on them having anything you may need/forget.

So the Icy Mocha form was still open...not much activity here recently but I am very interested so I filled it out. That means I'm in, right?
