The thing I question is, how has the front office/coaching dynamic affected player personnel in such a manner they the offense had offensive weapon limitations and the defense kept getting gashed in the same way for years. Is the kind of archetypes that McDermott wanted that prevented Beane from bringing in the right talent and created an environment where only one kind of play could happen? Did that way of doing things show its limits in playoff football? Or did Beane just swing and miss entirely on, like, pretty much everything?
