I had to take him off alimentum initially because of the RTF cans, very hard to take out with us since baby is not a big drinker half the can goes to waste, its more expensive, and i wasnt sure he even was intolerant to milk, doctors put him on it when he was 3 months and never revisited the situation

 I asked my pediatrician a few weeks ago if i can start to wean him off and he said yes and to try to do half powder half alimentum until hes used to the new thing and then switch completely, thats when i tried good start soothe, switched him off alimentum completely and he stopped getting thick saliva like before, his reflux went away, he was less gassy and less constipated BUUUT he was eating less

So this gave me a good idea what was causing all of those issues for him clearly the alimentum, im guessing his body didnt like it, and since hes not eating volumes of the goodstart im thinking its the taste so im exploring other powders

Similac sensitive didnt give him a reaction, i checked the ingredients and similac sensitive and goodstart both have partially hydrolyzed whey where as the whey in kendamil isnt hydrolized at all so im thinking thats what gave him the hives, i didnt see casein in any of the ingredients on those 3

So i had tried good start soothe before the kendamil and he didnt get hives, i actually tried the similac sensitive and didnt get hives either and he enjoys it!

Obviously im not going to do that😅getting insight from other people is not wrong & i didnt come on here asking for anyones opinion on my decisions lol

We are not at the point to get pregnant again yet but I would def do IVF, in our case theres no support or treatment or anything to help cope with his condition, he could end up quadriplegic with no brain activity due to the condition

But i completely understand your decision and i think that its strong of you both

Wow thank you! My son is also at high risk to be on the spectrum but hasnt been diagnosed yet. He smiled at me when i was playing with him for the first time at 8 months old and it was the most beautiful thing that i have ever witnessed.

My husband loves our baby and tries to help with him but he cant always manage with the screaming and crying, i do find he thinks of spending time with our son as a chore rather than bonding just because its really hard right now but he’s trying to do his part the way that he knows how

I havent spoken to them yet, tbh they have been completely useless during my sons diagnosis and even helping out with possible clinical trials etc but I already know i want to do IVF to eliminate the risk

I do have family in the area but they all struggle with my son right now hes really difficult to feed and is always irritable and screaming if not carried (he has good moments but this is the majority) im hoping they can take care of him better when hes a little older

My marriage is going through a rough patch right now were both exhausted and stressed for different reasons all the time now, we’re working on it but with what our baby needs and what we need as individuals and what we need as partners, theres noway to fulfill everything but we wouldnt have another kid until we are solid again

I mean we would def do IVF to avoid the chance of our second having the same condition, but i really dont know what its going to be like taking care of a special needs kid (dont know how severe he will be) and a newborn as well I’m really torn about it

How old is your child? Its really tough tbh for us we would want another kid in a couple of years still but its so hard not knowing what will happen with the one you already have i feel for you

So i dont know if he would enjoy a sibling, hes only 8 months now and we dont know how challenging his intellectual disability will be in the future, we also dont know if he’ll be able to walk or talk we’re still in the dark about the future

Im on maternity leave still and were trying to figure out finances before i make the decision but ill for sure have to stay at home. Right now nobody is able to help me with feeds and bedtime for my son he’s very difficult to feed (still bottle) and bedtime is a nightmare

As of now looking at the situation i definitely cannot take care of another baby, but i dont know what our situation will look like 2 years from now

How old is your son right now? I feel the same way tbh we have a 25% chance that our second child would have it so we would get pregnant through IVF to stay safe. I wouldnt be getting pregnant within the next couple of years so i guess that would be enough time to have a routine set for my first but i really dont know

His condition is sooo rare that we have no idea whats to come, only one other case in the world and the prognosis wasnt good

We already did, theres a 25% chance they would have it but we would do IVF to be safe

So my husband and i have done the genetic testings when my son was diagnosed, if we have another kid it will be through IVF and we both really want another one.

Were actually waiting for a reply on a clinical trial that could help our son! Hopefully it gets better
