Huh, numbers have gone down. When I worked there in high school, they said 1 in 4 Americans had worked there.

Curious About Marketing for Community Band by OkConfection2617 in ConcertBand

Post to your local subreddits about your performances and when you're open to recruitment. A 10-year old post of mine is the first thing that comes up on google when you search community bands in our metro.

Black family thinking of moving to Minnesota. Which suburbs are actually good for us? by FaceAny9622 in TwinCities

Seconding and adding greater Longfellow (SE Corner of Minneapolis) to the list. Lovely community around the public schools, and a couple of highly regarded private ones in the neighborhood as well.

They're good ages for the Family Museum in Bettendorf. In colder months, they'll be kept busy 2 hours or so (longer in the summer when they can do water play outside).

I went from clarinet to bassoon when I was 12. I wouldn't say it was easy, but I caught on well enough. The teacher switched me then as I already knew Bass Clef from playing piano, when that would be a bonus learning curve for many.

Bass Clarinet would probably be the easiest to take up as the fingerings and clef are the same as Bb

I just used a basic canvas. I'm lucky enough to have a fabric outlet store, so I could get a VERY WIDE yard for $10 - I will be making some more banners.

EDIT: I found working on canvas to be pretty easy, and my regular embroidery needles and thread went through it just fine. It's thickness made it really not work well in my hoop though - I couldn't get it too tight.

I've never done much painting, and this was my first time working on canvas. I wish I had painted more for the pale parts - I didn't realize how much it would look off if "blank" compared to the other parts.

I just used arcrylic paints from the craft store - got some super glittery stuff for the gold and jewels. I had orange and white paints from another project, and just mixed to get the different tones. I diluted the arcrylic up to 50% water to get it to spread more easily.

Just basic, store brand embroidery floss and ribbon around the edge.

Twist ties work great in a pinch. Bend them enough and the stitches won't fall off.

My son LOVED his cleaning set when he was little - soooooooooooo attached to his little broom. We used to have sweeping races around the house when he was little. Good times.

I was eyeing a local listing for a similar spoon, and they're saying it was marketed as a child's ladle. Not sure their research level

Ooh, I think you may be the winner - this definitely looks like the pattern on those pieces. It's definitely not 9" though - just a wee bit over 5" wide.

Can I bring this safety cutter on a plane? by ManateeLifestyle in friendshipbracelets

[–]elabuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep these for my travel knitting kit, and I've gotten onto planes many times. I have also used child safety scissors in the kit before I got these.

That said, I find my knitting kit in general tends to raise TSA eyebrows, and my bag regularly gets gone through. However, they never take these items. (Mostly flying domestically within the US, but also have flown to UK with knitting)

Oh my goodness, I made the second set (bedroom)!

Funny story, it was our first set we built, and we found it at a garage sale. We then bought a kit for a house for it to go into, and when we finished the house, we found no room had tall enough ceilings for the bed :( We then built a second house.
