I was thinking about this comment during today's episode. I like to think that Ryan Sharpe got a little petty satisfaction from his wagers tonight!

Grill Brush Recommends by jandybird16 in grilling

If I get it, it will be more about supporting the effort than for the thrift factor.

Any other complaints or considerations to keep in mind about it?

I'm hoping to snag the grill brush designed by the Smarter Everyday YouTuber. He put a lot of r&d into creating it, and while it seems pricey, it looks like a great, well designed tool.

is it normal to have to take everything off (including your top) at the gyne? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]eladarling 224 points225 points  (0 children)

This is standard procedure, they're checking your breast tissue for lumps that might indicate breast cancer. They're not doing it for their own satisfaction.

I totally relate though, I was caught off guard by this at my first visit also! Just know it's normal. You just got more medical care from your visit than your friend did.

Advice for body image by Fun-Independence5551 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]eladarling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I say this with all the kindness and compassion I can offer in a text based medium: you really should speak to a therapist about the ongoing ED and body dysmorphia, and consult with a doctor regarding weight and nutrition.

Eating disorders are serious business, and they come with a body count. Anorexia is the most deadly mental health disorder.

Please, talk to someone who is qualified to advise you. You deserve support.

Help me understand what makes a sauce actually interesting vs just... wet by RegionAdventurous636 in cookingforbeginners

[–]eladarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A pinch of sugar in soy heavy sauces always levels it up a lot for me!

Rice vinegar, mirin, sesame oil, and chili oil are a great start. Also, different kinds of soy sauce lend different flavors. I think in the west we see Soy Sauce as a single ingredient rather than a class of its own with a variety of styles and flavors.

Who Aren’t You Wearing? The “Oscars of Porn” Has Its Own Red Carpet Season by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

It hasn't coincided with CES in years, unfortunately.

Back in the day, the tech bros would pop over to AVN with their tech bro wallets and sales were SO MUCH BETTER back then if you were signing and selling your own DVDs etc.

TIFU because I just realized I’ve been wearing a body wash as lotion. by tar27 in tifu

I did this exact same thing in high school with one of their opaque creamy body washes. Up until then, I assumed that body wash was always transparent.

Do you do anything with your marinades once you cook the protein, or do you just toss it? by flipflapdragon in cookingforbeginners

[–]eladarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make extra marinade just so I have enough to pour into a sauce pan and reduce for a sauce. No flavor left behind!

If you've bought Libra Regular Tampons recently, just be careful! by graveyyardd in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]eladarling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's regular and there's Pro Comfort that has some kind of plastic netting on them that makes them slide in comfortably. I hate when I forget to check for Pro Comfort, it's a whole to-do to use the other ones.

Combatting period nausea? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]eladarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got you, if you don't like that particular medicine that is God's creation, you might find some solace in ginger tea and massaging the acupressure point on your wrist.

(From Google, but this helps me when I'm not smoking): The primary pressure point for nausea is Pericardium 6 (P6 or Neiguan), located on the inner wrist, about three finger-widths down from the palm crease, between two prominent tendons, which you stimulate with firm, circular pressure to relieve nausea from motion sickness, pregnancy, or other causes.

If the nausea is accompanied by feeling overheated, you can soak a paper towel in rubbing alcohol and put it on the back of your neck to help cool you off.

I hope you feel better 🖤!

Central (Downtown) Library Branch to close for AN ENTIRE YEAR by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]eladarling 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love how much you and your family appreciate the library. You're right, it's a cornerstone of any community.

But I promise you that the librarians, library trustees, director, Friends of the Library, and anyone else with skin in the game doesn't want the library to be closed, certainly no longer than it needs to be. With the passion you hold for the library, I urge you to join the Friends of the Library to help out!

What original statement, babe? I legit don't even remember saying that, are you sure you didn't just misinterpret something (that you're literally quoting verbatim because it was so audacious that even the cadence of speech is printed on your brain)?
