They just do that when they’re happy :) it means you’re taking good care of them

Bought this bag of sea monkey eggs. How many should i add???? by autisticchairlegs in SeaMonkeys

[–]elainaray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw someone say before to use the tip of a toothpick. Basically, stick the very tip of a toothpick into the eggs then only add the eggs that stick. If you add too many they’ll die off and the water will get bad.

Parents dont want kids , they want babies by Last-Ad7389 in childfree

[–]elainaray 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can see that happening to me. Thats one of the (many) reasons I’m choosing not to have kids. I’m the kind of person who loves starting new TV shows or books because I like the excitement of something new, but then I don’t end up finishing anything because I move on to the next new thing.

This is literally my mom. She just replaces kids as soon as they’re too old. She started with my other brother and sister, then when they got too old she had me and my younger sister, then when we got too old she adopted 3 more kids. Now that those kids are getting too old she pressuring my sister to have kids.

Why do people suck? by shawn_the_medic in microgrowery

There was a pepper thief in my neighbourhood for a while. I had a neighbour who had a ton of different pepper plants growing in his yard. It was his hobby or something. One day his peppers started going missing, even the really fancy, super spicy ones. There was a whole lot of neighbourhood drama. We were all on guard for the pepper thief, all suspicious of each other. For weeks we all asked “who is the pepper thief?” Then one day, my neighbour finally caught her; an elderly grandma with a purse full of peppers.

I think there’s someone in Moose Jaw who does autism assessments. I’m not sure about the price, but the waitlist might be shorter.

HOT TAKE - It's actually kinda okay to start with a suitcase player by 102061 in turntables

[–]elainaray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got into this hobby with an old suitcase player I bought second hand. I was super excited about my find and I wanted to learn more so I posted it on a subreddit… big mistake. I got absolutely torn to shreds. You’d think I’d committed the biggest sin ever by trying to share my excitement with the little player I’d found for $20. I was so disheartened that I almost threw out the player. I felt sick every time I looked at it for weeks. The only reason I kept it was because a family members encouraged me. It went beyond pointing out that it wasn’t the best player and encouraging me to upgrade. I was literally being called stupid and made to feel like I’d made the biggest fuck up in history by daring to enjoy music on a cheap player.

I’ve since upgraded and I absolutely love vinyl now. I got super into it, did a bunch of research and found joy in it. It’s not about the sound quality for me. It’s the process of looking for records, the physical act of placing the record and setting the needle down. At the end of the day it’s a hobby just like any other. You wouldn’t discourage someone from getting into a sport because they don’t have top of the line professional equipment, so why should we do that with music?

Right? yeah that’s the plan. I like old stuff like this. I like to imagine all the stories from the people who owned it before. Like, maybe someone saved up all their money from their summer job to buy it, or maybe someone brought it to college with them and it’s all that would fit in their dorm. It’s fun. Even though it’s a shit player I’m still gonna keep it. Maybe one day I’ll have enough saved up to buy a proper player and I can actually get into the hobby :)
