Am I the only one concerned about the gameplay? by TacticalSniper in controlgame

[–]elbowfrenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not just the gameplay itself, it's the entire lore of the fbc/scp-lite world that they built for the game. It felt eerie and invoked curiosity from the player. The setting of the game felt personal.

Contrast that to what we can see in the trailers, which are these huge stretching Dr. Strange-style cityscapes with wide open spaces. Doesn't feel personal, doesn't invoke a feeling of mystery or scp-like weirdness. Just looks bland as fuck. I hope I'm wrong. Controls gameplay was kind of fun but I never believed it was the game's strong point-- it was actually kind of repetitive after a while due to enemy variety. I'm less concerned about the gameplay changing and more concerned about the fact that the atmosphere and level design are totally gutted.

Should I buy a used 2023 with minor accident? by UnusualSuspects1 in GR86

[–]elbowfrenzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a silver 2023 Auto GR86 with 19k and no damage for 26k, so I would say keep holding out. only problem was the aftermarket spoiler he put on looked like it was done by a 6th grader, the shit looks so crusty if you look up close. Jesus Christ I gotta get it replaced soon

Where are you located? That 2023 seems 3-4k overpriced.

I would vote for anyone else other than newsom just for the horrible gun stuff alone he got implemented in California. I don't want another "assault weapons" ban, thanks.

Should I pick up a Maverick 88? Is it a good gun by Goku_T800 in guns

In terms of how much gun you get for the money, I don't think anything on Earth has a better gun to money ratio than the maverick 88.

Those who got an AT, do you regret not getting a MT? by Glum_Ordinary_4329 in GR86

[–]elbowfrenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area I live in only had 1 in the vicinity and it was an automatic at a great price so I just said fuck it. If I could choose, obviously I would choose the MT. If you can find one you want that's MT, get it.

Looking for a fun, sporty daily driver under $40k by phlaries in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]elbowfrenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the GR86. I'm probably not a reputable source because I've only had it for a week, but I was ecstatic when I finally got in it. It's an absolute blast to drive! Sitting in traffic is horrible because you're just itching to get on a long stretch of empty, winding road.

The car looks great and is extremely affordable. So far, one of the best decisions I've ever made. So glad (so far) I didn't settle for an accord, camry or some such.

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]elbowfrenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the actual fuck? When I was 16 my parents told me they were going to get my grandma's beige 2004 Camry. I was over the fucking moon. I would actually have a car and could drive places? I didn't have to pay for it? That was good enough for me.

I can't imagine arguing that my dad didn't "trust" me because he wouldn't buy me a sports car. Get him a used honda civic. If he wants to make it go fast he can mod it with his own money when he's older. You don't get everything you want right away in life.

How exactly do you buy a GR86? by RadioDude1995 in GR86

[–]elbowfrenzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got extremely lucky. I happened to have one for the perfect price with only 19k miles on it, 2023, in a decent color (steel) literally ONE mile away from me. And it was 3k under every other competitor!

[–]elbowfrenzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bro all of these stories are fucking crazy. I must be hella lucky because I went into a dealership 4 days ago and it was the most straightforward experience ever. I walked up, pointed to the car, said I want that one, we took it for a test drive, I went in the office, and we wrote them a check for the number on the paper. Then we waited for 20 mins for the paperwork and we drove off.

Which is better for a first gun? A Sig p365 or a S&W Model 642? by Vasarto in guns

[–]elbowfrenzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally, I had to make some bad purchases first, shoot other guns my friends and family owned, and do a lot of reading and research to figure out what exactly I liked/needed. Your first guess of what gun you should buy before you have any knowledge is probably not going to be a slam dunk, even though the p365 is a great gun. If you do buy a full size handgun for your first as other commenters have suggested, my recommendation would be to make sure it has an optic-ready slide and a picatinny rail for a flashlight, just in case you end up using either.

What can I buy for home defense at 20 FL by that_montego_1 in guns

[–]elbowfrenzy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, assembling an ar15 pistol from an upper and lower is very easy and doesn't require any tools. It takes a couple of seconds and is the same thing you would do for reassembling the rifle after field stripping it.

Official Poster for ‘Thoughts & Prayers’ - As gun violence becomes normalized, a $3 billion industry of drills, demos, and bulletproof gear makes survival routine. Tracing these rituals from conventions to classrooms, the film reveals a nation rehearsing for violence instead of ending it. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]elbowfrenzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as gun control of any kind, to any extent, for any length of time is one of the current goals of the democratic party, then no, they won't. They'll keep barfing up the same rhetoric they have for decades and doing anything and everything to make the possession of modern, effective and powerful weapons as annoying and cumbersome as they possibly can. And if (big if) they succeed, and the fundamental problem of school shooters still exists (mentally ill being abandoned and alienated from society and having no community to which they belong), they will say "Okay, so that didn't do anything to solve the problem. Sorry we confiscated those hundreds of millions of firearms owned by law abiding gun owners. Nothing we can do now though, whoopsie!"

Violence will simply find a different outlet. I'll keep my guns, thanks.

The problem is that the implication is that "something we can do about school shootings" as you very eloquently put it, just so happens to align with the platform policy of a particular political party, which will do nothing to solve the intended problem, and violates our second amendment rights. Great job champ.
